APRIL 10, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
We hosted our 3rd annual Career Fair with 90+ employers, training, and college vendors presenting a wide array of possibilities to our students last week. Students I connected with were very excited about what they saw and learned. Several shared their work plans for after high school or college based on what they learned at the career fair. The industry and post-secondary partners who joined us also expressed gratitude for being included in the event. They were impressed with our students’ level of engagement and the quality of their questions.
I am also proud of how our 11th grade students showed up and engaged with the ACT exam yesterday. All staff supported the administration of the ACT, which meant our juniors were able to take the exam in small group settings rather than in a gym or cafeteria. It went well, and we appreciate your understanding and support.
Spring competitions and performances began last week, and the spring weather is finally showing up to make it more enjoyable to take in any outdoors games. I hope to see you at an upcoming event, and I’m especially looking forward to the opening of the high school musical "Beauty and Beast" next week on Friday, April 19. There are three evening shows and three matinee performances – perfect for little ones. We expect the theater to fill for this special production so get your tickets today.
Thank you for your persistent partnership. One school, one community, #SLPPantherProud!

Annual career fair inspires high schoolers to engage and explore
A flurry of activity flowed in and out of the high school’s auxiliary gym for the annual spring career fair. Some students roamed in groups while others opted for one-on-one conversations with targeted career partners. All left with a little more knowledge – and some swag – from career sectors that await them now and in the future.
90+ vendor booths were represented at Spring Lake Park High School’s career fair. Walking through the aisles, students were heard introducing themselves and shaking hands, scanning QR codes to fill out job applications on the spot, and asking questions of career representatives about longer-term future opportunities. All of this is part of practicing first impressions and opening an initial dialogue between students and local organizations.
