Willow Parent Bulletin #10

We are in full fall mode...

Pumpkins, and spiders, and bats...oh my! Everywhere you turn at Willow, you'll find festive displays of the students' work. I asked one of our wildcats what he learned today, after watching him create fact families, and he told me that he just had fun all day.

Next Friday is an early release day (11:40 AM) as well as our Halloween parade. Weather permitting, we will be walking outside along the sidewalk. You are more than welcome to watch, but we ask that you stand away from the sidewalk, at a safe distance, and wear your mask. Remember that your child's costume should be warm enough for the weather, not be full of gore, and be weapon-free. Students will still need to keep their regular masks on at all times.

You should receive an email from your child's teacher later today that has a sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences. We are offering in-person and Zoom conferences this year to best accommodate your needs.

Our youngest wildcats had a Brain Builder activity today in our own "pumpkin patch." This included a story, picking out a pumpkin, decorating it, and some games and fun pictures.

I though you'd enjoy seeing some of the fantastic learning taking place.

Special Awards

At the last Board of Education meeting, we got the chance to celebrate some very special people! The first of those honorees was 2nd grade student Maximilian Escamilla. He received the Tom Dockweiler Award for his hard work and progress over the last year.

We were also able to honor two much deserving staff with Morin Awards of Academic Excellence: Enrichment Interventionist Lisa Rost and Nurse Gail Straney. They are two of the biggest team players when it comes to doing what's best for our students.

Book Blurb: "Gator, Gator, Gator"

Daniel Bernstrom has written a delightfully enticing book titled Gator, Gator, Gator! This follow up story to One Day in the Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Tree asks you, the reader, to join in on the fun. Descriptive language, engaging illustrations by Frann Preston-Gannon have made this a must read to the students on my list this year. This story is available at the Crete Public Library.
