Headteachers Message
Dear Families
I hope this message finds you well as we wrap up another fantastic week at Teddington.
Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to all 350+ student helpers and all our dedicated staff who supported at our Open Evening this week. The evening was a tremendous success, as we welcomed over 1700 visitors into the building; this is a huge shift in numbers compared to previous years. In every department there was a positive energy, and we have received some fantastic feedback from visitors and prospective families. As always, our students were exceptional and stole the show.
Thank to our tour guides and department ambassadors for your help and to Manon, Lera and Stella in Year 7 who helped me with my speeches throughout the evening. A special mention to all the departments for putting on such fantastic showcases! We had our school production crew rehearsing with talented singers, dancers, and actors, to Geography’s erupting volcanoes, Art’s creative printmaking, and PE’s Wimbledon ball boys and girls showing off skills. Everyone has made me incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of this fantastic school.
Some of our Year 8 students have this week visited Brooklands Museum and had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a dynamic STEM experience. They had the delight of listening to engaging talks from inspiring speakers, a chance to ask thought-provoking questions to field experts, and were involved in many hands-on activities including testing various McLaren wheel configurations. The trip left students buzzing with excitement, feeling inspired by both the experts they met and the engaging activities.
We have had another fantastic week of fixtures! This week's sport fixtures saw an array of results:
- Our Year 8 Rugby boys lost out to 25-15 to Turing House
- Year 7 boys played their first football fixture for Teddington and beat Hampton High 4-3
- Year 9 Netball had a dominant win of 24-1
- Our Year 11 Netball team won 14-1
Today, our Year 7s are off on their PGL trip to Marchants Hill. I’m sure they will have a fantastic time, and I look forward to hearing all about it when they return.
Looking ahead to next week, we have our Open Mornings from Monday to Thursday, when we will welcome many more visitors to see our school in action. If you know anyone interested in attending, please direct them to our website where they can secure a ticket.
Finally, you will have received a letter from Miss Metcalfe this week regarding changes to our attendance policy. We cannot stress enough how important it is that students attend school every day to ensure they are not missing out on valuable learning time. Please remind your children at home that we have two weeks left of this half term followed by a two week break, so no excuses!
Our PTA are hosting a curry and comedy night in school on Thursday 17 October from 19:00 which promises to be a night full of laughter, joy and delicious food! You can purchase your tickets here through Classlist!
Thank you all once again for your continued support. Have a great weekend, and I look forward to welcoming the students back in on Monday for an 08:30 start.
Kind regards
Mr P Grills
Headteacher

Head of Year Message
Year 11 have started the academic year with an outstanding attitude. The atmosphere in classrooms has been focused and productive, and students are rising to the demands of this important year.
We were delighted to welcome Michele Miller into school recently to deliver revision sessions tailored to Year 11 students, teachers, and Year 11 and 13 parents. These sessions focused on strategies for embedding revision into long-term memory, which is essential as we prepare for the upcoming mock exams. The countdown has begun, with two weeks of mocks scheduled either side of the October half-term break. Our Year 11s are working incredibly hard, both during lessons and independently, to ensure they’re as prepared as possible.
It’s also been wonderful to see Year 11 students actively involved in wider school activities. A number of them helped at the open evening this past Wednesday, showcasing Teddington to prospective families. On the sports front, our Year 11 netball team is competing in the Borough Tournament today. Meanwhile, our football teams have already kicked off their campaigns in the National, Surrey, and Borough cup fixtures.
Well done to all of Year 11 for a brilliant start to the year, let’s keep the momentum going!
Kind regards
Miss E Corcoran
Head of Year 11
Brooklands Museum
A message from Mr Hutchings
On a recent educational trip to Brooklands Museum, some of our Year 8 students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a dynamic STEM experience. They listened to engaging talks from inspiring speakers, including renowned physicist Brian Cox, who captivated them with fascinating insights on black holes. Zero, a leading company, presented on the future of synthetic fuels, sparking excitement about innovations in sustainable energy.
Students not only enjoyed these talks but also had the chance to ask thought-provoking questions, really showcasing their love of learning to the experts. In hands-on activities, they worked with McLaren to test various wheel configurations and small model cars for speed, which quickly became a trip favorite. They also tackled the challenge of designing cost-effective, eco-friendly stadiums, allowing them to apply their creativity and engineering skills. The trip left students buzzing with excitement, feeling inspired by both the experts they met and the engaging activities.
