School personnel may not dispense prescription medication to children unless the licensed prescriber and parents have signed the "Prescription or Over-the-Counter (OTC) Authorization for Medication Administration" form.

Non-prescription medication (over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophen, cough syrup, cough drops, bug spray or sunscreen, etc.) will be administered according to the manufacturer's recommendation as written on the bottle and by the school nurse or medication aide. Students are not allowed to self-medicate.

In addition, the parent or legal guardian needs to sign an authorization form. These forms are available at all school offices, at most clinics, and on the Fargo Public Schools website. A new form must be submitted at the start of the school year or when any changes occur from the original prescription order. All medication will be in and dispensed from the school office or other designated areas.

Medication must be sent to school in the original container. When a prescription is ordered at a pharmacy, you can request the order be placed in two bottles. medication left at the end of the school year must be picked up by an adult or it will be disposed of by the nurse two weeks after school is completed for the year.

Flowers and balloons delivered for students will be held in the office until the end of the school day when your student will be asked to pick them up as school is dismissed. These items are not allowed in the classroom. Thank you.

Each session of art club, students are asked to start out with a creativity challenge - to take an object given to them and think outside of the box in order to turn it into something new! The following students were selected for extraordinary creativity. Congratulations!

Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2024 is NOW OPEN online at www.fargo.k12.nd.us/registration. Your child must be age 5 by July 31, 2024 to attend school in the fall. Registration is a two-step process:

STEP ONE: REGISTRATION ONLINE
Complete online registration forms at www.fargo.k12.nd.us/registration. For assistance, please contact your child’s school to schedule an appointment to complete forms in-person.

STEP TWO: SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION
Upload or bring the following documents to your child’s school before August 25 to finalize registration.

• Child’s certified birth certificate
• Child’s immunization record with 5-year shots
• Document (i.e. current city utility bill or bank statement) that includes parent/guardian name and current address for verification

A final progress report for school year 2023-2024 will be sent home with students the last day of school on May 30, 2024. You may also view it in your students PowerSchool account at any time after this date.

The McKinley school office will be closed for the summer, June 10 through August 1. Any registration and/or questions will be handled through the Fargo Public Schools District Office by calling 701-446-1000.
