Virtual Parenting Session- Tomorrow!
The next Virtual Parenting Session is Wednesday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m.! How can we help children build self-confidence and empathy for others? This session will focus on assisting parents/guardians in helping children manage their feelings, problem-solve, and engage in their education. Key strategies will also be shared for fostering engagement, modeling healthy coping skills, and developing a deeper connection. Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
The Illinois State Board of Education requires all Illinois public school students in Grades 3-8 to participate in state-administered testing in reading and math. IAR assessments include three Math subtests and two English Language Arts subtests. It is very important for students to be present to take these assessments during the scheduled times for their class. Please note the dates and times of testing for your children and try to avoid absences or scheduling appointments during these times.
Dates of testing for 3rd-5th: 3/11, 3/12, 3/14, 3/18, 3/19
Times for 3rd and 4th grades: 9:15-10:45 each day of testing
Times for 5th grade: 1:30-3:00 each day of testing
Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about IAR.
Illinois Science Assessment (ISA)
Illinois administers a federally required science assessment to all students in fifth, eighth, and eleventh grade. Students are tested in Earth, life and physical sciences. Below are the dates and times for these 5th grade assessments here at Canterbury. Fifth grade parents, please note these times and try to avoid absences or scheduling appointments during testing times.
Testing time is 10:10-11:10 each day. Dates of assessments will be 4/9, 4/10 and 4/11.

Prospective Kindergarten Families: Last Chance for a FREE Kindergarten T-shirt!
District 47’s online kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year is open! Families are encouraged to register now to secure their child's spot. To register, visit the D47 website at https://www.d47.org/kindergarten for step-by-step instructions. Early Entrance and Accelerated Placements

LAST Kindergarten Dual Language Meeting!
The last informational meeting about District 47's Dual Language program will be held tomorrow for parents who have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are interested in placing your child into the program and you do not have a child currently enrolled in the dual language program, attendance is required at one of these meetings. We are beginning to plan our Back to School Outreach Event which will take place on Thursday, August 15 from 3-6 PM. Would you or someone you know be interested in donating your time to provide back to school haircuts for Canterbury students? This service at our event was very busy and successful.
