STUDENT(S) OF THE MONTH
In OCTOBER the school focused on EMPATHY and our Student(s) of the Month were chosen for demonstrating this trait during the month!
Halloween Parade
A WORD FROM PRINCIPAL WILSON
Dear Taylor Families,
It was wonderful to connect with our Taylor families during conferences and at the Halloween parade in October. As the weather turns colder, please ensure your child comes to school dressed warmly.
I want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to our wonderful PTO and The Mustard Seed Church for providing our teachers with delicious meals during conferences. Everything was perfect! We are so grateful for the thoughtfulness and generosity of our families and community in Palisade!
With Veterans Day approaching on November 11th, I want to honor all of our Veterans for their dedicated service. Your sacrifices for our freedoms are deeply appreciated. Our students will be learning about and honoring our veterans in their classrooms on this day.
As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, I find myself reflecting on all for which I am grateful. I feel fortunate to be a husband and father, and I cherish the opportunity to learn alongside our wonderful students, staff, and families at Taylor each day. I encourage you to take a moment this month to consider what you are thankful for, and to enjoy some relaxation during the break to appreciate the little things. Wishing you a joyful Thanksgiving break!
Monthly Theme - Persistence:
Our theme for November will be persistence. Persistence is when you keep trying to do something even when it gets tough or you face challenges. It’s the determination to not give up and to stay committed to your goals. At the end of November, classes will nominate a student who has shown persistence to be their student-of-the-month!
PTO Information:
For the month of November, please consider shopping at the Palisade CO-OP Country Store and mention Taylor’s PTO to donate.
The Taylor PTO is committed to supporting our school’s growth and success. Our focus this year will include several initiatives:
Enhanced Staff Communication
A Welcoming Atmosphere
Community-Building Events
Innovative Learning Support
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s make November a month filled with learning, growth, and fun!
Respectfully,
Shawn Wilson
Taylor Principal
Comfort in Crisis
PHS FBLA is collecting socks & blankets for the unhoused members of the Grand Valley. Our Taylor NEHS is supporting them by raising awareness for their cause. Please drop off any unused socks & blankets by our front office.
Taylor Closet
We have received a generous donation to create a Taylor Closet that will provide apparel and hygiene products for our students. Please contact Mrs. Kuhn or Mrs. Steele if your family could benefit from this opportunity.
Palisade Co-op
When shopping at Palisade Co-op in November make sure you mention the Taylor PTO for a donation to be made. Support Local!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER WITH MS. SERENITY
We survived Halloween and I bet teachers weren’t the only ones who were glad the kids didn’t have to come to school on November 1! Halloween kicks off the chilly holiday season in style and Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. If your family needs assistance to make it through the holidays and cold months, please reach out to our school counselor. She has resources that may be able to help.
Our lessons this month for grades K-2 focus on learning behaviors like how to use self-talk to help you remember directions and how to ignore distractions. Our third grade Tornadoes are learning about how to make a simple plan to solve common kid problems like forgetting to bring your homework to school or remembering to do your chores. Fourth graders will learn about listening with attention and fifth graders are learning a problem solving protocol to help them state the problem without blame and then pick the best possible solution for the problem.
We’ll finish up our Changing Families group and our K-1st grade Calm Ninjas group right before the Thanksgiving break. The first week in November, Ms. Serenity will start two more Calm Ninjas groups for grades 2-4. There is also the possibility of starting a Grief group this winter if there are enough students who need support with grief. Feel free to call or email our school counselor, Ms. Serenity, anytime if your child or family needs assistance:
