PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello CV Family,
We are finishing the third quarter this next week and heading into the busiest quarter of the year. Each quarter has athletics, activities, performing arts, CTE field trips, and events. Still, we add celebrations and recognitions associated with the end of the school year, making the fourth quarter a festive and busy time. Prom, Baccalaureate, Golden Scholars, Copper Coyote Awards Night, among many others, and of course, graduation is how we finish celebrating the school year. Please take the time to savor these events and put them on your calendar, as they are a wonderful reminder of all the positive things our students and staff are and have accomplished not only this year but throughout their time at Campo Verde. Here are three points of interest I would like to share with you:
Golden Scholars: Communication has been sent out to those that are being recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. We will celebrate our Golden Scholars on Friday, March 8th. We look forward to celebrating with all of our Golden Scholars!
Academic Check-In: It is very important to check on your student's progress in both their academic classes on campus and in the classes they might take at EVIT or online. Now is the time to seek assistance from our teachers and staff!
Graduation Information: Information on graduation is available in this newsletter as well. A timeline and resources are available to help you navigate the process; please utilize this resource as it is robust and very helpful.
We look forward to the final quarter and hope you are ready for the fast-paced march to May 23rd!
Thank you for your continued support, and please let us know how we can support you and your student!
Best regards,
Mr. Tyler Dumas

HEALTH OFFICE REMINDER
You may have seen in the news that there have been two cases of measles in the East Valley recently. While we hope that these are the last of the cases, it is important to acknowledge that Measles is extremely contagious and that there is a possibility that this could impact our schools at some point. Therefore we would like to share some helpful and important information with our families. Typically the illness starts off with a fever, cough and runny nose. It is soon followed by a rash that typically starts at the head and soon covers the entire body. If measles does spread into our school community we will immediately begin working with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) and you will be notified. Any students who are not vaccinated will be identified and MCDPH will determine when they can safely return to school. Unvaccinated students may need to be out as long as 21 days and if more cases arise, it could be longer.
If you have any questions regarding measles or would like resources on vaccinations please reach out to our Health Office.

Golden Scholars
Campo Verde High School is proud to honor our outstanding students; those who serve others in our “C”ommunity, demonstrate positive “V”alues, speak and act with “H”onor, and maintain academic rigor through “S”cholarship. We will be starting our Spring awards season with a celebration of our Golden Scholars. These students have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 or higher. Recognizing these academic achievements is a tradition not only at CVHS, but throughout Gilbert Public Schools as well.
You are invited to be recognized at this event and parents are welcome to attend. We will be hosting two ceremonies; one for Juniors and Seniors and a second for Freshmen and Sophomores in order to better manage parking and seating for all in attendance. Please read below for the details:
GOLDEN SCHOLARS CEREMONY: Juniors and Seniors

Friday, March 8, 2024
9:14 AM
GOLDEN SCHOLARS CEREMONY: Freshmen and Sophomores
Campo Verde High School Auditorium
Friday, March 8, 2024
10:20 AM
Student participants are being asked to dress professionally, as one would for an interview, as they will be walking across the stage to accept their awards. The Golden Scholars cards will be given to honorees in their first hour classes on Monday and will serve as their pass to attend the event.
Parents and guardians, please expect that parking on campus will be extremely limited as our lots are nearly at capacity on a normal school day. Please come early and anticipate needing to park and walk to campus. In addition, in order to ensure the safety of our students all visitors to campus must enter the event through the main auditorium doors on the west side of campus ONLY. Visitors may not walk through the campus and will not be admitted through the front office access.
Friday, March 8 is a half-day with an ending time of 11:20 am. Parents, if you plan to take your child home directly after the ceremony, you will need to sign the student out at the Attendance office in the main office.
Once again, congratulations on this impressive achievement! We look forward to seeing you accept your award at the ceremony.

Practical Tips for Easing Kids’ Social Media Anxiety
(click link to read the entire article)
Listen. It can be easy to dismiss social media stress as superficial, but for many tweens and teens, social media is social life.
Don't judge. Snapchat seems a little dumb, doesn't it? But for tweens and teens, connecting with their peers is a normal part of child development. For you, it meant hours on the phone. For them, it means lots and lots of rainbow vomit. Accept that this is important to them.
Encourage their offline lives. FOMO can chip away at kids' self-esteem, but the best defense is a strong sense of what makes kids unique, worthy, and valuable. Help kids participate in sports, clubs, drama, volunteer work, or even online hobbies to help them weather the ups and downs of social media anxiety.
Set limits. Listening and validating are important, but parents also need to set some basic limits around when and where the phone or computer can be used. Start with turning phones off an hour before bedtime and storing them in your room to help kids resist the temptation to stay up late texting. You can suggest they tell their friends they'll be signing off at a specific time, so they won't be expecting a response.
Shift the focus. If kids are feeling overwhelmed by keeping up with all the online social stuff, encourage them to focus on doing something. Maybe they can create their own memes, choreograph their own dances, or design their own games. Encouraging kids to use the creative side of social media tools can shift their focus to a sense of accomplishment.
Use social media settings. All apps have settings to help you keep a lower profile. You can turn off your status so friends don't know that you're online, mute people to disengage for a while, and go into "ghost mode" so your friends can't find you. Some apps even have features that limit your time or remind you to take a break. Using these settings lets you take some control over your use, which can help relieve anxiety.
Ask open-ended questions. You don't need to solve their problems for them. But you can help them think about what is and isn't working for them. Here are some questions to try:
● Are there any habits you might want to change? (Such as not checking your phone before bed.)
● What would happen if you turned off your phone? For an hour? A day?
● Have you thought about rewarding yourself for not checking your phone or social media for a certain amount of time? (Make a game of it!)
● What are the pros and cons of using Instagram and other social-networking apps?
● What would happen if you unfollowed or unfriended someone who was making you feel bad on social media?
● Do you notice that you have better or worse reactions to posts or messages depending on how you feel that day?

TRANSCRIPTS/REGISTRATION
Transcript Orders Through Parchment
Campo is now using Parchment to order and send out all transcripts. Parchment is a vendor that electronically sends transcripts upon a student's request and is relatively self-service. However, to utilize this option moving forward, all of our students will need to create a free Parchment account. While the account is free, there is a charge if the request is for an official transcript and is paid by the student at the time of ordering.
Parchment uses the highest security standards and the service complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This service is available from approximately 12 a.m. to 11 p.m. Pacific Time.
Please check your student's email inbox for the invite to create your Parchment account.
