Weekly Attendance Update
Please Help Us With Attendance!
Remember that instruction begins at 7:50am. Supervision and free school breakfast are available starting at 7:25am, so we encourage you to plan your drop-off for between 7:30-7:40am each day.
Our attendance was down this week. Our average for the whole week was 91.4%. Again, as we prepare for State Testing, we hope you will continue to get our Leopards to school so they can prepare for success as much as possible.
Thank you, as always, for making sure our students are at school every day. Great things happen for them when they are here!
REMEMBER, MISSING ONLY 2 DAYS PER MONTH IS THE SAME AS MISSING AN ENTIRE MONTH OF SCHOOL FOR THE YEAR!!
**We need your help with tardies! We begin instruction AT 7:50am, so please arrive early enough for students to get all of their instructional minutes

PTA Health Fest was a Success!
Our 2nd annual PTA Health Fest was an incredible success this weekend! Over 100 students, parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents came to Rio Vista for the opportunity to receive community resources and information ranging from immigration law to vision screening. Our School Board President, Marilyn Anderson, paid a visit and was impressed by and grateful for the work our PTA continues to do in service to the Rio Vista community.
Huge thanks to our PTA Board, and PTA President Stephanie Anaya, for pouring countless hours into this event to ensure that our families continue to have unique opportunities to connect, learn, and benefit from partnerships across not just the city of Anaheim, but all of Orange County. Events like this epitomize what it means when we say that at Rio Vista: WE ARE US!

Dear Families,
Kids Heart Challenge starts soon, and we are proud to support the American Heart Association through this service-learning program. Students will learn how to have happy and healthy hearts and brains, while raising lifesaving donations to help others with special hearts. Plus, your family can learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR through Finn’s Mission! Sign Up TODAY at http://www2.heart.org/goto/riovistaelementary or by downloading the FREE AHA Schools App for Apple or Android.
Meet heart survivor Finn and hear how completing Finn’s Mission gives hope to everyone, everywhere. Let’s save lives together! Thank you for being a Heart Hero!
**our goal is for student to register and complete Finn's mission, we are not emphasizing donations so please don't stress about that; all proceeds do go the American Heart Association and they are grateful for our support
Future Eagle Night!
From the Valadez PTA President:
I am excited to extend this invitation to you on behalf of our PTA. We are looking forward to meeting with the families of Rio Vista and Melrose. This will be my first Parent Night meeting and both of you being present would mean a lot. Having a familiar face in a place can go a long way. We want to do what we can to help your families transition to the nest.
We will have light refreshments for the meeting and sell food for our Open House. If you have any ideas on how we can support your families, please do not hesitate to share.
I appreciate the partnership we are working to build and I look forward to our collective success in supporting the families of the La Jolla Community.
I hope to see you then!
Respecting our Volunteers
Did you know that our very own Rio Vista parents are helping to support the valet line in the morning? They are parents just like you who are dedicating their time to support the school, and their main focus is the safety of all our Leopards who are coming to school every day.
You can recognize our PTA Volunteers in the parking lot because they have special blue vests!
Thank you for driving slowly in our parking lot, pulling all the way forward to load and unload, and refraining from stopping in the valet line. If you want to watch your student walk all the way to the gate please be sure to park nearby or walk them up so the valet line is not stopped.
Thanks to our volunteers and thank you to our community for following the same Leopard Laws we ask our students to observe every single day!
AVID Family STEM Night (rescheduled to 4/24)

CLICK HERE to sign up quickly. Thank you for your $15 donation!!
PTA Volunteers
Starting in December, PTA volunteers can help teachers by taking care of preparation tasks (making copies, cutting things out, etc.) on Tuesdays. Reach out if you have any questions about how you can help.
Also, thank you to our PTA parents who signed up to volunteer supporting valet in the parking lot in the morning!
Remember, everyone is trying to be on time to school and to make it to their next destination safely, so thank you for respecting the rules of the parking lot by only dropping off in the drive through lane, dropping off after passing the cross walk, and not blocking traffic in the drive through lane.
Lost and Found
Please be sure to check the Lost and Found regularly to look for items your child may have left behind around campus. Our PTA helpers wash and hang the clothes, so please leave the hangers when you take your items.
At the end of each month, anything left on the Lost and Found cart will be donated to our local Goodwill.
Rio Vista PTA website
Click HERE to access our amazing PTA website with links to all upcoming school and community events! Scan the QR Code below to join as a member (only $15 per family to join PTA, nothing else is required to be a member!).
Rio Vista is one of only 2 schools in all of Orange County (and one of only 24 schools in the state of California!) to earn this recognition. Thank you to our amazing PTA Board for their leadership and dedication, and thank you to all of our wonderful parents and families for joining as members (your donation goes directly to students) and for volunteering when possible.
Parking Lot Reminders
Please do not walk in the wheelchair accessible area (marked by blue stripes) where we load students into the cars.
Also, PLEASE DO NOT PARK ALONG ANY RED CURB as that space needs to be available for emergency services in the case of an emergency. Please be courteous to our neighbors and do not park in front of anyone's driveway.
Make sure to remind your students to pay attention at the dismissal area. If we have to call them more than 3 times and they do not come to the loading zone, we will ask you to go back around in line and we'll try again.
Thank you for working together to keep everyone safe!
Parent-School Compact
See the document below for reminders about our collective responsibilities to each other as parents, students, and teachers. Be sure to ask for a copy of this to sign at your parent/teacher conference this week.
