Food and Nutrition Reminders:

• School breakfast and school lunch are FREE for all enrolled students, every school day. Meals must still be entered into the cafeteria computer by individual student account.

• Even though meals are free, families are highly encouraged to complete the application for free and reduced-price meal eligibility. School site funding depends in part on the number of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free/reduced-price meals may qualify for other benefits, as well. The meal application is available online at MySchoolApps.com.

• Printer-friendly PDF menus are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage. At the top of the page, click or hover over School Menus + and then Printable PDF Menus.

Interactive, web-based menus containing nutrient and allergen details are available at MySchoolMenus.com, as well as via links from the F&N webpage.

Office Updates

General office hours are 7:30 - 2:45. Our front doors are locked for security purposes.

To enter campus, please knock on the door, standing in front of the window. Wait to hear a slight click and then open the door. Anyone on campus must sign in on our HelpCounter system.

We are a closed campus and parents are not allowed to enter through the front gates in the morning. If your child needs assistance, please come through the front office and we would be happy to help.

LOST & FOUND: There is a Lost & Found for jackets, water bottles, etc. If your child is missing an item, please have them check the cart. Small items are held in the office.

ADDRESS / EMAIL / PHONE UPDATES: If there are any changes to your address, email address or phone number, please let the office know right away. You may make changes to your emergency contacts through your MyPlan portal or contact the office and we will make the changes.

FORGOTTEN ITEMS: Occasionally it may be necessary to drop off a forgotten item. Please include your child’s name and room number. We will make every attempt to get it to them. If your child does not have their lunch with them, they will be offered the school lunch. Band is held on Mondays. Please help your child with a good routine to remember their instrument and binder. If it is forgotten, they may check the office on the way to the band to see if it has been dropped off.

ATTENDANCE:

It is important to leave a clear message when verifying your student’s absence. The number for the attendance hotline is (858) 538-9574. When leaving a message please SPELL the student’s first and last name clearly, state the student’s teacher and reason for the absence. If your child is ill, please describe the symptoms.

Reminder: The bell to line up before school rings at 7:40. Students must be in their seats promptly at 7:45 or they will be marked as tardy.

Volunteers:

If you are helping out at Sundance occasionally you will just need to sign in as a “visitor” in the front office. If you are interested in volunteering on a regular basis, please contact your student’s teacher and Stacie in the front office will reach out to you with the requirements.

OCIS

Off-Campus Independent Study contracts are for students missing 3+ consecutive days (up to 14 days per school year) of school. This includes but is not limited to vacations/illnesses etc. If families are aware of an upcoming absence please contact abrackman@powayusd.com for an OCIS contract. When possible teachers appreciate 5 working days notice to pull homework together for the contracts! Thank you so much!

MEDICATIONS

Medications to be administered at school on a regular or emergency basis must be presented with the completed Authorization for Medication form. We are unable to take any medications without this form signed by your physician.

We need your help to make the 2024/25 school year the best yet. The Red Envelope campaign supports critical education for all Sundance students by funding programs like Music, P.E., Science and so much more! We are asking for a donation of $250 per student by October 25th. Please use the red envelope sent home with your child this week or see the flier below. Thanks for your support!

Students will be visiting the bookfair with their class during the week. Send cash or make in-person checkout easier for your reader with a book fair gift card that can be purchased online here.

Musical Theater Club starts Oct. 17th for 4th & 5th Graders!
Musical Theater Club is BACK, co-chaired by Sundance parents Katrina Hale & Jen Landau! This year the Musical Theater club will be held weekly on Thursdays from 12:45 - 2 pm with a final performance in April. All skill and experience levels are welcome! 4th & 5th grade students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, so if your child is not sure if they want to join, please save spots for others. Show will be announced at the first rehearsal, on October 17th! More details in the flyer below. Ready to sign up, do so here!

Wildcat Choir is an optional, afterschool choir music program funded by the Twin Trails Education Foundation. The class is taught by the Sundance music teacher Mrs. Angie Serrano. Choir Rehearsal will be Wednesdays 2:10-2:45 pm. All 2nd-5th Graders are welcome, more details and registration is here.
