Heritage Newsletter
May 2024
Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Heritage Families,
The grass is turning green, flowers are blooming, and summer is four short weeks away. This time of year is always exciting as we administer our end of year assessments. It is fun to see our student’s growth and to reflect on their individual successes, both academic and social. Teachers will be administering the FAST assessments in the areas of reading and math throughout the month of May. Students will bring their report cards home on May 24, which is our last day of school. Please remember that students have a two hour early dismissal on the last day of school. If you have an incoming Kindergarten student or know of an incoming kindergarten student, please share our Kindergarten Jump Start date of August 8. These incoming kindergarten students and their families will join us at Heritage from 5:30-6:45 pm to experience a day in the life of a kindergarten student. Parents will meet with administration during this time to go over the nuts and bolts of Heritage Elementary. We are looking forward to this busy month and the warm summer days that await us at the end.
Respectfully,
Laura Ryan
Heritage Elementary Principal
Note from Mrs. Reha
Hello Heritage families!
Can you believe we are nearing the end of the 2023-2024 school year? It has been a tremendous year at Heritage! I want to give a huge THANK YOU to all the Heritage parents. The support you provide your students and the collaboration you engage in with our school is amazing. It takes a village and our students have a great one.
As we work through the end of the school year, there are a lot of events and activities at school. Communicate with your child's teacher if you have any questions related to these events. Continue to encourage your children to stay focused and work hard all the way through to the end of the year. There is still a lot of learning happening!
Remember to follow the Heritage Elementary and Heritage PTO Facebook pages for updates on summer events.
Last day of school is Friday, May 24 with a
2 hour early dismissal. School ends at 12:55p.
Enjoy your summer break!!
Please stop in to check out the LOST AND FOUND table.
All items will be donated at the end of the school year.
Thank you for attending STEAM Night! We are always looking to improve the event. Please fill out the form to guide us for the future.
Band News
The final day of early band is Tuesday, May 14. The band will share some music in the lunchroom that day! Lessons will continue to the end of the year, with no lessons on the last day of school.
Please contact Ms. Cline for more info if your student is interested in summer lessons, and check your email for the link to sign up for a week long summer band camp. It's not too late to sign up for band and chorus at Parkview! Ms. Cline can help with that too.
4th grade families be on the lookout for information coming home soon about joining band in the fall!
PE News
Students have been doing an amazing job showing their leadership skills, moving and working together in class!
K-2 graders are continuing to work on throwing and catching skills. They enjoy “couch potato”, where they participate in sliding beanbags and throwing “balls of energy” to their peers. Such a fun activity to focus on being proactive and synergizing!
3-5 graders have a few more PE classes left before summer break. We are reviewing water safety and participating in review activities that focus on synergizing, movement, and lots of throwing and catching, and chasing and fleeing.
Important Dates:
May 8th: 5th grade track meet at Northview with other south feeder schools.
May 17: Field Day
Leader In Me
This month in our Leader in Me curriculum, the students will learn all about finding confidence to contribute in a positive way to our school and community. They will discover how they can uncover their personal talents and use those to help others. This month ties strongly with habit 8, “Find Your Voice”. This is our final habit in Leader in Me, and one that allows students to find their expertise and know when and how to utilize it. Once they can identify something they are good at and enjoy doing (because everyone has genius), they can inspire others with their actions.
