A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA
Dear Jaguar Band Families,
Welcome to the last edition of our weekly newsletter for the 20 - 21 school year. We are wrapping up this school year and preparing for the excitement of what is to come. We cannot wait for all of the exciting adventures, performances, and interactions our band members, parents and staff get to experience this fall!
Just a quick recap of this past weekend! What a wonderful three days we had with our full Jaguar Marching Band, grades 9-12, our newly appointed Student Leadership Team (SLT), our newly hired Marching Techs, and our first performance as an entire unit. The students have been incredible this past week, diving in and setting the standard for rehearsal etiquette and a wonderful and intense work ethic towards next years' standards.
Saturday evening, we also had the opportunity to get together with students, parents, directors, family, and friends and celebrate all that we have accomplished, seen, and experienced over these past two years. We had a wonderful evening of laughter, cheering, and applause for our students and all they have achieved. We look forward to so many more moments to celebrate!
This week is our last week of school, and our students will be completing their final exams and getting ready for the summer. There are no after-school band activities this week!
We have just a few reminders of upcoming events! On the one black day this week, we have our final SLT meeting. All SLT please make sure you come to the band hall during advisory for that final wrap-up meeting.
June 9th & 10th is our Drum Major Camp at Lehman HS. This camp will be in conjunction with Hays HS and Lehman HS Drum Majors! Drum Majors will receive details concerning times, location, and supplies shortly!
ATTENTION ALL BAND AND GUARD MEMBERS!!! The Breakdown Camp is scheduled for June 16 & 17 from 3 - 7 p.m.! Mr. Michale Rosales will be flying into Austin that morning and kicking off our camp that afternoon. We are super excited to have this world-class dancer, choreographer, and teacher working with our students! This is such an important camp that is going to help push our program to the next level of excellence! We need every student at this camp as the skills we will learn and develop are going to be implemented throughout our marching show! Mark your calendar now!! June 16 & 17, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the JHS Gymnasium!
2021 - 22 SLT! Your leadership camp is on the same days as the Breakdown Camp except in the mornings starting at 8 a.m. We are excited to have Mrs. Katie VanDoren coming to work with our student leaders. Mrs. VanDoren is currently the assistant Brass Caption Head with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, and before that she was on staff with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps! We are super excited to have her work with our SLT and look forward to a great camp!
Summer "open band hall days"! Throughout the summer we will have open band hall days when students will be able to convene and hone their music and marching skills! Dates and times will be sent out soon!
“Off and Down.” As we finish this semester and get ready to start the summer, we want our students to remember what this looks like, what it sounds like, and what it feels like. It is a time to continue to be engaged, listen for information, and be ready to work hard towards excellence once the opportunity arrives! This is what we want for and from all of our students! “Excellence”.
I’ll wrap up our final newsletter with this statement: We are incredibly proud of our students and can’t wait for what the future holds! It’s a great “summer” to be a Jaguar!

After logging in, click RETURNING students. The password is your child’s Hays CISD Student ID#. It will ask you to create a new password at that point. Please feel free to use a password of your choice.

Band Sponsorships and opportunity to put Student names on trailer!
The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! If you would like color copies of our Sponsorship Brochure, we are happy to provide them.

A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.
