Husky Headlines
November, 2024
At Harrison, we believe that when children are excited to come to school, learning naturally follows. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to create environments where curiosity thrives alongside academic rigor. From our morning "Rise and Shine," where we build connections to start our day, to our monthly "Husky Heroes," where we celebrate individual and collective achievements, we're seeing the powerful impact of combining joy with high academic expectations.
Some recent highlights that showcase our commitment to both excellence and engagement:
- Stop Drop & Read (DEAR) Literacy Initiative
- PTA Fall Festival
- Student Music Performances
- AttenDANCE
- Drama Presentations from the Kickapoo Theatre Department
- Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days
- ACE Nutrition Services Visit during Lunch
- Rainbow Fish the Musical Presented by Springfield Little Theatre
- STICK to Attendance Tape Challenge
Harrison Elementary is more than just a school – it's a place where we hope every Husky knows they belong and can succeed. As we continue through this school year, I'm excited to see our students grow academically and in their love for learning.

Harrison's Fall Highlights
Dismissal Procedures
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we've adjusted to our new dismissal procedures. Your flexibility during this transition has helped make the process smoother for everyone. As a friendly reminder, when picking up your children, please remember to exit through Kildee Lane rather than the main entrance. This one-way traffic flow helps prevent congestion and ensures a safer, more efficient dismissal for all our families.
Attendance Matters
We're pleased to share that our attendance rates are showing improvement – thank you for your efforts! While we're making progress, we're still working toward our goal of 95% attendance across the school.
We're excited to announce "The Perfect Sundae Attendance Award" on Friday, November 22nd! Students will have the opportunity to build their own ice cream sundae, with their attendance percentage between now and November 22nd determining how many toppings they can add to their treat. Please continue helping us reach our attendance goals by ensuring your children arrive on time each day, ready to learn. Every day of attendance brings them closer to both academic success and a delicious reward!
