A Message from the Principal

Dear Archer Glen Families,

In this week's update, I'd like to first introduce you to our Principal for the Day Mr. Herndon! We are excited for Mr. Herndon to join our team, if only for a day. He would like to share a message to our students:

Message from Mr. Herndon: Thank you for being responsible, respectful, and safe. You are all doing a great job listening to the teachers and not interrupting. Keep it up school!

Wise words Mr. Herndon. I would also like to give a huge thanks to all of our carnival volunteers! The carnival is a community favorite and it is no small feat to pull off. There are weeks of planning and and hours of work leading up to that evening, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.

These next couple of weeks have three important events. First, next week starts our school food drive. We are partnering with Willowbrook Food Pantry to help families in need. Donating is easy. Students can simply bring donations to school and place their items in the black bins in each pod. More information can be found on this special edition newsletter.

Next week on Thursday and Friday is also parent-teacher conferences. Sign ups have been sent by teachers and we'd love to see you here. Thursday also kicks off our book fair, so feel free to shop while you wait for the next conference.

Archer Glen Food Drive

Archer Glen is hosting a food drive to stock the shelves of the Willowbrook Food Pantry. The food drive is from May 6 to 17, which will help Willowbrook feed families throughout the summer. During the drive, students will learn about the important role of food pantries and how they can help those in need in their own communities with compassion and understanding. Students can drop off donations in the collection bins located in each pod at any time during the May 6 to 17 window. See the special edition newsletter for more information.

PAC Elections, May 3 - May 17

Our PAC Elections have officially opened for the 2024-2025 Archer Glen school year! Please click the button below and fill out the ballot. Our elections will take place for two weeks, starting today 5/3 and running through 5/17.

Parent Input in Class Placement

Each spring, placement teams begin the process of developing the next year's class rosters. Placement teams take great care to consider a number of factors that contribute to the success of each child, including social, emotional, and academic factors. Teams also consider factors that lead to balanced classrooms that benefit all students, such as balancing class size, academic strengths and goals, and behavioral and work habits. Placement teams include your child's teacher, other grade level teachers, specialists, counselor, principal, and other staff knowledgeable of your child and your child's grade level peers.

If you would like to provide input to the placement team, please fill out the form linked below by May 12th. Requests for specific teachers are not considered as a part of the placement process.

Online School Supply Orders for Next Year Starting Now

New App for Student Transportation: My Ride K-12

This spring, the Ride 360 app that our district uses to provide families with student transportation information will be replaced by a new app called My Ride K-12. This new app can be downloaded now in the Apple and Android app stores at the links below.

The Ride360 app will be discontinued during the month of May. In order to continue receiving up-to-date information about your student's bus transportation, you will need to download the My Ride K-12 app as soon as possible.

Once you have downloaded the new My Ride K-12 app, you will use your existing Ride360 log-in credentials to access the new app. No further sign-up is needed - all of your student's information, including route, will automatically transfer over to the new app!

SHS Spring Fest - May 10
