EMS Absence Reporting
Please use this website to report your child's absence for Esperanza Middle School.

Important Information

All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 20th in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Tuesday, January 21st will be an A day.


2nd marking period report cards will be available online in HAC on Tuesday, January 28th.


As a reminder during our winter season, students are not permitted to wear blankets in the building. Additionally, students cannot wear ski masks in the building. Please contact your child's Assistant Principal with any questions.

8th Grade Parents/Guardians

As part of Maryland Blueprint Pillar 3, College and Career Readiness, all eighth-grade students have been invited on a field trip to The James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. During the visit, students will have an introduction to what the Tech Center has to offer so they can begin to think about preparing for the future. Students will have the opportunity to apply to programs as freshmen or sophomores in high school.


Math, Computer Science, and Social Studies homerooms will go on this field trip on Tuesday, January 28th, and the ELA, Science, and Spanish homerooms will go on Wednesday, January 29th. We will leave Esperanza Middle School at 9:45 a.m. and return by 12:30 p.m. in time for each lunch. Please look for the permission form and return it by January 22nd at the latest. Failure to turn in the signed permission slip will exclude your child from participating in the field trip. Please call the school at 301-863-4016 with any questions.

After School Activities

All after-school activities end at 3:30 pm. Two or more late pickups will result in removal from after-school activities.

Monday - None

Tuesday - Symphonic Band and BATB Jr. Music: All Enchanted Objects, Belle: Something There, Human Again

Wednesday - Honors Chorus, Solo and Ensemble Help, and Robotics

Thursday - BATB Jr. Music & Blocking: All Villagers: Gaston, Civil Air Patrol, and Symphonic Band - Percussion ONLY

Friday - None

Families can pay for lost or damaged resources in My School Bucks. Resources include library books, laptops, chargers, textbooks, consumables, etc. My School Bucks is also used to put lunch money on your child's account.
