Troybery Winners Revealed!
The TSD middle school media centers celebrated their 25th annual Troybery Award Program this year, challenging students to read and vote on the best middle-grade books that were published in 2023.
In December, students could check out the potential Troybery titles—23 in total—in our media centers or as e-books and audiobooks in the Sora app. In April, they voted to narrow down the list to the top 10 titles and then the Troybery winner; with an unprecedented tie for the 10th spot, it was decided that, in celebration of the 25thAnniversary of Troybery, there would be a Top Ten +1 this year only.
The 2025 virtual ceremony features videos and artwork created by students from all four middle schools, as well as reveals third runner-up, second runner-up, first runner-up, and Troybery Award Winner.
Check it out for yourself--this is not to be missed!

June 3 Board of Education Workshop - Location Change
Fostering Belonging Across All Schools
#WhereEverybodyBelongs
In April, our Equity Design Team (EDT) hosted a powerful Learning Lab in partnership with the National Equity Project, bringing together teams from across the Midwest to share insights and build community.
The day spotlighted our ongoing belonging efforts, highlighting key findings from student and staff data:
Student Experience: Students reported that a strong culture of community building fosters belonging. However, a significant gap in social-emotional support was noted, particularly at the secondary level, with African American high school students feeling less connected.
Adult Experience: Educators expressed the need for more universal expectations for student behavior, relationship building and greater shared responsibility for supporting diverse learners.
Moving Forward: The EDT identified three focus areas to drive the work forward – Making Systems Human Centered, Investing in Staff, and Measuring What Matters.
We’re proud of the work our team has accomplished and are committed to amplifying stories, strategies, and outcomes that reflect our dedication to creating a district where everyone feels they belong. #WhereEverybodyBelongs #BelongingInAction #OneTroy

Theater Program Updates
Dear OneTroy,
We are writing to share an exciting update regarding high school theater in Troy. Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, Athens and Troy High will move to a collaborative theater model, aligning with our OneTroy vision of collaboration and excellence.
After 50 years of dedication to Athens, Krista Manfredi has retired. Her passion and impact on generations of students has been extraordinary, and she leaves behind a legacy of creativity and inspiration. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in retirement.
Over the past several years, we’ve seen a shift in student interest across many extracurricular areas, and theater is no exception. Like all of our programs, student choice plays a key role in shaping what we offer.
Therefore, we are pleased to share that Marc Vickers, Troy High Theater Teacher, will extend his expertise and take the lead in directing both theater programs. Marc will teach at both schools and lead all theater productions. We look forward to continuing to build upon the vibrant theater programs that serve our students and families across OneTroy. Additional information regarding productions will be provided at a later date.
Thank you for supporting the arts in Troy!
Sincerely,
Kendra Montante
