Planning a Move This Summer?
As we start wrapping up the school year and looking ahead, we’d really appreciate it if you could let us know if your child won’t be returning to our school next year because of a move over the summer.
This helps us get a withdrawal slip ready and makes the transition to your new school a little easier.
If you’re planning a move, just give us a quick call or send a note in with your child by May 30th.
Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop!

School Bus Concerns – What to Do First
Hi everyone! Just a quick reminder for those who may be dealing with bus-related issues:
🔹 If there’s a problem during the bus ride (like behavior concerns or safety issues), kids should let the bus driver know right away. Drivers can often handle things in the moment or submit a formal report if it needs to go to the school.
🔹 The principal can only follow up on behavior issues if a formal report has been filed. Without that report, the school isn’t able to take action—even if they hear about something informally.
🔹 For things like late buses, missed stops, or route changes, the best and fastest first step is to contact the bus company directly:
📞 203-922-1311
The school office is always happy to help too—especially if the issue continues after contacting the bus company.
Hope this helps clarify things a bit for anyone new to bus routines or wondering what to do. Thanks for keeping our kids safe and supported! 💛
Planning for next year
As we begin planning for the next school year, we want you to know that a great deal of thought and care goes into creating balanced classrooms where all students can thrive. Our placement decisions are made with the whole child in mind—considering academic needs, learning styles, and social-emotional development.
Because of this thoughtful process, we kindly ask that families not submit specific teacher requests. While we understand how much you care about your child’s experience, our goal is to ensure that each student is placed where they will be most supported and successful.
If there is specific information about your child’s learning needs that you feel we should consider, we absolutely welcome that input—please feel free to reach out to Mrs Weber via email by May 30.
Thank you for your trust and support. We are grateful for the opportunity to work together in helping your child grow and succeed
📣 When You Have Questions – Here's How to Get Support
We know that questions and concerns can come up throughout the school year, and we want to make sure you feel supported every step of the way. To help make communication smooth and effective, here’s the best way to get started when something’s on your mind:
🧑🏫 Step 1: Start with Your Child’s Teacher
Teachers know your child best in the classroom and can often answer your questions right away. Whether it’s about academics, classroom behavior, or social interactions, your child’s teacher is your first and most helpful contact.
You can reach out by email, phone, Dojo message or a note—whatever works best for you.
📞 Step 2: Still Have Questions?
If you still need help after talking with the teacher, feel free to reach out to:
-
Mrs Ferraro, our school counselor for emotional, social, or behavioral concerns
-
Mrs Weber for broader concerns
🤝 We’re Here to Help
Our goal is to work together as a team to support your child. Starting with the teacher helps us respond quickly and ensures the right people are involved every step of the way.
Thank you for your partnership and for all you do to support your child’s success!
ESS Parents Facebook Page
Just a quick reminder that the Facebook page is not officially affiliated with ESS. It’s a parent-run space created to help families share info, ask questions, and support one another.
Please note that Mrs. Weber and staff are not administrators of this page and do not monitor or control what is posted or commented on here.
Any official school information or communication will always come directly from the school through their official channels—such as emails, newsletters, or the school website.
If you have a concern that requires school attention (like student issues, bus concerns, or school policy questions), it’s best to reach out directly to the school office or administration 💬🚌📚
Playground Use Before and After School Hours
We’re glad that many families enjoy using the playground before and after school—it’s a great place for kids to play and connect.
However, please be aware that there is no staff supervision during these times. For safety reasons, children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times if they are using the playground before or after school.
We appreciate your support in helping us keep our school community safe and happy!
Online Safety & Respectful Communication
It has come to our attention that some students have been engaging in inappropriate conversations with one another and accessing unsuitable online content while at home. While these activities are not taking place on school grounds, they can impact students' behavior and interactions at school.
We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing the importance of respectful communication and safe internet use. Here are a few ways you can help:
- Monitor Online Activity: Ensure that your child is using age-appropriate websites and apps. Consider using parental controls and filters to limit access to inappropriate content.
- Encourage Respectful Communication: Talk to your child about treating others with kindness and respect, both in person and online.
- Set Clear Expectations: Establish family rules regarding internet use and respectful interactions with peers.
- Stay Informed: Keep an open dialogue with your child about their online activities and social interactions.
By working together, we can create a safe and respectful environment for all students.
Please Schedule Appointments Before Visiting the School
To ensure the safety and efficiency of our school operations, we kindly ask that all parents schedule an appointment before visiting the school and asking to meet with staff members. This helps us provide the necessary attention to your concerns while minimizing disruptions to student learning.
If you need to meet with a teacher please reach out the the teacher directly either through email or Class Dojo to find a mutually convenient time. If you need to meet with Mrs Weber, please call the school office or email her in advance to set up a convenient time.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a secure and organized environment for all students
After hours communication
We are so grateful for the strong partnership we have with our families and truly appreciate the open communication between home and school. Your involvement and support mean the world to us!
As we continue working together, we want to kindly remind everyone that teachers and staff may not respond to messages sent after school hours right away. Just like our students, they need time to rest and recharge so they can bring their best energy and care to ESS each day.
Messages received after school hours will typically be responded to the next school day. Please know that we will always do our best to address your questions and concerns as soon as possible

Old News-
Getting outside for recess has been great. Students who wear footwear without a back strap on like Crocs or UGG slippers need to have a change of shoes or else they will have to sit out during outdoor recess. Sneakers are the safest choice.
Currently the last day of school is scheduled for Tuesday June 10th
Please be sure your child is fever-free WITHOUT any medicine for a full 24 hours before coming back to school
Just another reminder that student phones and smart watches are NOT allowed to be on during the school day. Please refrain from contacting your child on these devices during the school day
