Important upcoming dates include:

• January 26th and 27th will be remote instruction;
• January 28th and January 29th Student Council Elections;
• January 29th 2nd quarter ends; expect report cards next week
• February 1st 11 AM Student Council Meeting
• February 1st Orientation for students returning to Hybrid Instruction (time TBA-email if your child is interested)

Drop off and pick up needs to happen in the parent loop off of Highland Park. There remain a few cars parking on School Street creating a tough and potentially dangerous situation for our bus drivers and your children.

The Hess Corporation and Baylor College of Medicine have partnered in a STEM Educational Outreach program. The program offers FREE learning kits which include Hess Toy Trucks along with a STEM Curriculum that demonstrates how the toys can be used as learning tools by teachers nationwide.

Raider is a chatbot that JW Leary Junior High will be using to connect with families.

You know how Siri and Alexa can answer lots of your questions? That’s basically how Raider works - except Raider only answers questions about Massena Central School District. Raider sends timely reminders, information, and tips to help promote success in school. And Raider doesn’t speak, only texts.

Did you know that on Mondays you can pick up 7-day meal packs for all students you have enrolled at the Massena Central School Districts? You can pick the packs up at any school in the Massena Central School District, including here at JW Leary on Mondays after 11!

The packs are at no cost to you and you do not need to call ahead. Pull into the parent loop and let us know how many students you have!

We want all children to know how much we look forward to seeing them in person and/or online. Letters to families of all children who we do not see in classes for 4 days of days in the past two weeks will be mailed home.

Student Council is starting and will be having elections via a Google Form on January and January. To run for office students will need to submit a brief (under 2 minute) video or the information form to Mrs. Jarrett-email her for more information.

There are offices for students at all grade levels:

• President (8th grade)
• Vice-President (7th grade)
• Secretary (any grade)
• Treasurer (any grade)

All students who run for office and any interested student can become a part of the student council.

The first meeting will be Monday February 1 at 11 AM on Google Meet.
