Sioux Center Christian School Trustee Nominations 2024
At the end of the 2024-2025 school year, Greg Van Dyke, Renae Calkhoven, and Joe Bakker will be completing their terms on Sioux Center Christian Board of Trustees. We thank them for their generous service. The board is seeking to fill 3 open positions!
The process starts with our constituents making nominations. Any member of the SCCS society (supporters, parents, grandparents, employees, etc.) can make nominations. (Nominations Process). You are encouraged to submit nominations by November 30, 2024!
Trustees must meet all requirements (Board of Trustee Requirements), be committed to the philosophy and mission of the school, provide needed talents and gifts on the board, and be ready to be a trustee under the mission-directed governance model.
The board has identified the following skills, knowledge, and/or experience needed in the next trustees. The nominee does NOT need to have all of the qualifications in order to be considered.

FALL CHORAL CONCERT
You are invited to the Sioux Center Christian School Fall Choral Concert on Monday, November 18 (originally scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19) at 7:00pm at Centerpoint Church. This concert will feature our 5th-8th grade choirs, who will be singing lovely sacred Christmas songs as well as other worshipful music plus a mass choir piece to conclude the concert. Freewill donations in support of our Music Department may be placed in containers by the sanctuary entrances.

- Because of Parent Teacher Conferences today and tomorrow, there will be no school on Friday, Nov. 15.
- The TRIP office and the school office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 15.
- There will be no Aftercare on Tuesday, November 26.
- There will be no school on Nov. 27-29 for the Thanksgiving Break. The school office will be closed.
- The TRIP office will be open 8:00-1:00 on Wednesday (Nov. 27) and closed on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 28 & 29)
TOILET PAPER TUBES AND PAPER TOWEL TUBES NEEDED
There will be a few projects coming up that teachers are requesting donations of toilet paper tubes and paper towel tubes. If you have any to donate, please drop them off in the office by Wednesday, Nov. 20. Thank you!

Sign up to bring food for Teacher Appreciation Social (Dec 18)
We are so blessed to have amazing staff at SCCS! Now it’s our turn to bless them this Christmas season!
The annual December Teacher Appreciation Social is set for Wednesday, December 18. We would love to bless the staff by having a variety of snacks and appetizers for them to enjoy after school, while we show them our appreciation for all they do for our children.

We ask that your food item(s) be brought to the school office by Noon on Wednesday, December 18. If you are unable to get your food item(s) to school on that day, please contact Kara Dieleman to make other arrangements (712-578-9776). If you have your food item in a container/crockpot that you need back, please label it with your name for pickup in the school office the next day.
HELP WANTED
Looking for a parent or school supporter with welding and/or powder coating skills to repair some existing bike racks. Contact Eileen Buiter 712-578-8624 for details.
ISASP RESULTS
Students in grades 3-8 took the ISASP assessment last spring. The results are in and have been reviewed by board, administration, and teachers. If you would like to receive your child's report, please contact the office at sccsoffice@siouxcenterchristian.com. Thank you!
FROM NURSE JENNY
If you have any clothes from the nurse, could you please return them? If you have any extra kids clothes (size 4T to size 12) you want to get rid of, Nurse Jenny will gladly accept those items as well. Just drop them off in the office. Thank you!
ALTERNATE BUS ROUTES
Due to the public school having an early dismissal on some Fridays, we will be running the alternate bus route in the afternoon on the following Fridays during this school year: Nov. 22, Jan. 10, Feb. 28, Apr. 4, May 16.
STORYLINE CHAPEL
PARENT VISIT DAYS
We value the partnership between our parents and school! We want to invite you into the school so you can experience what’s happening in the classroom. Each grade level will be hosting a Parent Visit Day again this year. You are invited to join us for some time in the classroom and a pizza lunch on us!
8th Grade visit day will be on Friday, Dec. 6. Join us at 11:00 in the band room followed by a classroom visit and a Pizza Ranch Lunch. Please sign up here by Monday, Dec. 2.
Below are the dates for the Parent Visit Days this school year. Dates are subject to change depending on circumstances. More information will be sent out later.

FOOD SERVICE NEWS
- Thanks to everyone who signed up to help with dishwashing this year! If you would like to help out you can sign up here. If you have questions, contact Ashley Keith (akeith@siouxcenterchristian.com).
- You can find the lunch and dishwashing schedule here.
- If you would like to eat lunch with your child, please contact the school 24 hours in advance of when you would like to eat. The cost for a lunch is $5.00 and can be charged to your family's lunch account as you go through the line. Thank you!
PELLA STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH
We believe all our faculty and staff are amazing and encourage you to take the time to nominate one (or more) of your children’s teachers!
Complete the nomination form (printed copies are available by the TRIP window) and return to our school office or mail to/drop off at Pella Corp. by the 25th of each month during the school year.
Each month a winner is chosen from our local schools and receives a $500 gift from Sioux Center Pella Corp, which can be used in their classroom to impact learning!
We are extremely grateful to Pella Corp for this program that serves to encourage and bless our faculty and staff!
FROZEN CHRISTMAS COOKIES FUNDRAISER
The New Life Church Legacy Team is selling frozen cookie dough that is cutout in Christmas shapes (snowmen, stars, trees) as a fundraiser for Christian education. They are $7/dozen. Just bake and add your own frosting - they are so easy and delicious!

FIRST CRC CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FUNDRAISER
Did you know that First CRC makes delicious pigs in the blanket for their Christian education fund and sells them year-round at Casey’s Bakery? Look for them in the Casey’s Bakery freezer section. A dozen is just $16. An easy meal – they bake from frozen in 45-55 minutes!
EXPLORE WESTERN
You're invited to our fall showcase, Explore Western, on Tuesday, November 19, at 7:00 PM. Families with students of all ages are welcome to attend the hour-long event. Our goal is to share an authentic, relational, and enjoyable experience for prospective WC families as they learn about “Who We Are” and “What We Do” at Western Christian High School. UNITY CHRISTIAN MIDDLE SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE
All middle school students and their parents are invited to our Middle School Open house on Monday, Nov. 25 from 7:00-8:30pm to learn more about Unity Christian High School. We will all meet in the Knight Center form 7:00-7:30pm and then break out into sections. If you have questions you can call 712-737-4114.
