January monthly theme is POSITIVITY
The January Life Ready monthly theme is POSITIVITY. Each month we have a life ready theme that we focus on where students and staff can nominate others and./or be nominated for exhibiting the theme.
Positivity Traits:
Those who demonstrate positivity see the best in themselves and others and have the trust and confidence to develop and grow a positive future. These individuals refuse to let setbacks or failures discourage them from reaching their goals. They focus on opportunities and what they can control, not obstacles.
*Students can find the nomination form on their Canvas page under the weekly snapshot.

FAFSA for 2025-2026 Now Open! (REQUIRED for ALL graduating students)
As you may know, the 2025-2026 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) recently opened up for students to apply for college financial aid. This comes a little earlier than expected, but we are glad that it is up and available for your completion. Families can follow the Federal Student Aid Facebook page or Twitter/X feed for tips, updates and information.
Create FSA ID
Before students and families can begin the FAFSA, they must create an FSA ID. This is done by creating an account on the StudentAid.gov site. Both the student and the contributing parent must create an account. If a parent/guardian already has an account from a prior child, they can use that same account.
FAFSA Form
Once the FSA ID/Student Aid accounts are created, the student will begin the FAFSA form. The student will complete their portion of the FAFSA and then “invite” the contributing parent to complete the remainder of the form. Click here to determine who is considered the contributing parent.
FAFSA Completion is a State Requirement
As per Indiana state law, all graduating students are required to complete the FAFSA by April 15, 2025. This is a requirement for all students, regardless of post-secondary plans. However, parents/guardians can opt out by completing the state’s FAFSA Waiver Form, and turning it into the WHS Counseling Center.
College Goal Sunday: FAFSA Completion Event
Westfield HS will be one of several locations hosting College Goal Sunday, on February 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM. FAFSA filing experts from across Indiana will be available during the event to help all attendees with filing their FAFSA.

Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
*The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct.
