Welcome Back to School
Principal's Message
Dear MVSD Preschool Programs' Families and Community,
Welcome to our Preschool Programs for the 2023-2024 school year! In my new role as the Principal of Preschool Programs, it is my honor to have the opportunity to return to work with our youngest students and their families, after having served as Monte Vista TK-8 Principal for many years.
I want to thank my predecessor, Dr. Aileen La Corte, for her leadership in fostering positive child outcomes. I am also grateful to work collaboratively with our Preschool Director and two Early Childhood Program Managers to ensure effective preschool programs that center around the whole child.
The safety of all of our young learners is of utmost importance to all of us. On behalf of our staff, I want to thank our families for entrusting their precious young children to us. Our goal is to treat your children as our own, and our commitment is to provide them with an enriching, safe environment in which they can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
I look forward to meeting you in person soon!
Respectfully,
Glenda Giron, Principal of Preschool Programs

Staff Highlights
Meet our Family Service Workers
Did you know that as part of our Preschool Program services provided to our students, we also work closely with families to connect them to community resources? This is the arduous and ongoing work that our team of Family Service Workers (FSWs) perform to create a strong, collaborative process between our agency, our families and the community at large for the social, emotional, and all other developmental and learning needs of our preschool students. FSWs work closely with families to enroll their young children into our programs. They also offer the opportunity to create Family Partnership plans to identify strengths and needs in order to connect families to community supports, as needed.
A strong two-way communication with your assigned FSW will expedite any needs and questions you may have outside of educational items your child's teacher will address. If they do not have the answer for you, rest assure that they will connect you to the appropriate staff.
Pictured below, from left to right, is our dedicated team of FSWs: Gloria Martinez-Avila, Paola Ron, Aggie Fonseca, Betty Moreno, Alicia Ortega, Vanessa Gutierrez, Iris Gonzalez, Jazmine Casillas, and Maria Rodriguez, who leads this team as the Social Services Facilitator.
Meet Our 2023-2024 Staff Members of the Year
Yearly, our MVSD Board of Education recognizes a few individuals chosen by their peers to represent our Preschool Program staff. This year's board recognition will take place at the September 7th Board of Education meeting to recognize our Classified Employee of the Year: Gloria Silva, Parent Involvement Facilitator, and our Certificated Employees of the Year: Ana Guerrero, Early Head Start Teacher and Samara Baker, former Program Facilitator. Parents, staff, and community members are invited to join us to congratulate and recognize their accomplishments and dedication to our Preschool Community.

Parent Leadership Opportunities
We firmly believe that parents and families constitute their child's first and most important teacher. We invite you to seriously consider becoming a Preschool parent or community leader, representing your child's class in our Parent Advisory group or Policy Committee, both decision-making bodies of our Preschool Programs.
The 2022-2023 Mountain View Head Start Policy Committee Lead Members are: Ms. Delia Sanchez - Chairperson, Ms. Veronica Hinojosa - Vice-Chairperson, and Ms. Yahaira Sahagun - Secretary.
If interested in taking a parent leadership role, please reach out to us for more details or be on the lookout for an upcoming parent organization meeting at every preschool program class to elect this year's parent classroom representatives for the 2023-2024 Mountain View Head Start Policy Committee group.

A Message from the Superintendent
It’s hard to believe that the new school year is right around the corner! I hope you have enjoyed a restful and relaxing summer break.
The summer was busy in MVSD with our Superhero Summer program which provided academic enrichment for over 1,400 preschool-8th grade students. Our summer program staff and our educational partners from Think Together and Windtree Education did an excellent job providing tremendous academics, enrichment, reinforcement, social emotional support, and fun for our students in our summer offerings which included Summer School, Special Education Extended Year Program, New to Kinder Program, Think Together Program, Migrant Education for students and parents, GATE Summer Science Academy, Head Start State Preschool and Children’s Center Summer Program, and the Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program.
This summer we also hosted a two-week, half-day Kids Summer Fun Program at the Family
Center that concluded on August 4. Approximately 90 students took part in this program each day and had a great time participating in science, art, cooking, library time, games and recreational activities.
I am grateful to partner with our exceptional employees, parents, families and community
members as we collaborate in the educational development of our students, providing them
with a solid foundation of skills that inspires lifelong learning and prepares them for the next
level. Looking to the new school year, believe that together we can inspire each student to
succeed every day!
I hope you enjoy the last few days of summer break and return relaxed, re-energized and ready
for a productive 2023-24 school year, which begins on Thursday, August 17.
Sincerely,
Raymond Andry, Ed.D.
