Words from our Principal
Happy fall! We have some very exciting events planned for you in the next few weeks.
On October 22nd, our Middle School Success 101 parent meeting will focus on promotion requirements.
On October 25th, you have a chance to be a Crusader for a day. Bring your student that special lunch from Lolita's, or In-n-Out, or packed with love from home, and join them for a picnic. The cafeteria will also be open for purchases if you are pressed for time. You will have a brief meeting with the principal, followed by classroom visitations for period 5 and 6, and a special lunch. Please join us even if your kids say, "No thank you!" They have no idea how much fun they will have!
On October 29th, Tyler Durman returns to BVM for two separate presentations, one in the morning at 8:30 am and one in the evening at 6:00 pm. Tyler will talk to you about setting boundaries and expectations for your kids and about withholding privileges until they have been earned. He will share communication strategies and he will convince you that your son/daughter does not want you to be their friend, but a strong guide in their lives who will hold them accountable. You don't want to miss this!
On November 1st, we will have our second Parent Progress Report Meeting at 9:00 am. You are invited to come and get a copy of your student's progress report and ask any questions you might have about raising grades or getting support. Progress reports will be sent home with students on November 1st.
Today I took a trip to the Bonita Point Plaza mall after school with Ms. Grossman and Ms. Crystal to support our neighbors because we have received several complaints about our students from local business owners and community members. My best advice to you is for you to pick up your students or send them home on Fridays after school. Drive through the parking lot at 1:00 pm on a Friday and see the number of high school, middle school and college students hanging out in that area. Some of our students are being exposed to people, behavior, and "products" that they might not be ready for. If you allow your students to go there, I encourage you to be present, if possible. I encourage time limits and honest conversations about your expectations and safety.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to raise these fine Crusader students!
Sincerely,
Teresa Kramer
