Principal Update
'Twas the week before break, and all through the house,
Excitement was stirring, like a mischievous mouse.
The backpacks were hung by the doorway with care,
In hopes that vacation soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of snowflakes dancing in their heads.
And parents in their jammies and warm winter cap,
Had just settled down for a pre-holiday nap.
When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Tore open the curtains and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the luster of midday to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a week full of chaos, and laughter, and cheer.
With a lovely Moran teacher, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment, it couldn't be a trick.
More rapid than prairie dogs, the days they all came,
And teachers whistled and shouted and called them by name.
"Now, Monday! Now, Tuesday! Now, Wednesday and Thursday!
On, Friday! On, weekend! Let's make the most of the time!
To the top of the schedule, to the end of the class,
Now dash away, dash away, make every moment last!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the school head the kids and their cheer,
With backpacks full of knowledge, and joy in the air.
And then, in a twinkling, the school week did end,
With smiles and with laughter, and a holiday trend.
As I drew in my breath, and was turning around,
Down the hallway, the children came with a bound.
They were dressed all in joy, from their heads to their toes,
And their brains were filled with the knowledge that grows.
A bundle of stories, they shared with delight,
And they looked like young scholars, all ready for flight.
Their eyes—how they twinkled! Their dimples, how merry!
Their laughter contagious, spreading joy like a ferry!
The teachers, so patient, their efforts were grand,
Guiding our children, giving a helping hand.
5 more days!
Updates & Reminders
- It's getting colder and colder! In addition to sending students to school with appropriate clothing for being outside, we are also in the season of possible school closures or delays. To learn more about the process and how this is communicated, visit the district webpage here.
- Wondering when to keep your sick student home? Find information and recommendations at the district webpage here.
Interested in running an after-school club? Parents and/or community members who run afterschool programs are hired and paid for their time. Let Ms. Hellenthal know what kind of club you want to run (follow your passions!) and we'll get you set up!
- Thank you for continuing to park in other spots in the lot rather than in our bus and Zum zones. We appreciate your attention to this!
