PARTNERSHIPS
Hoping each family's long weekend was filled with fun and laughter and lots of rest! As you know our wonderful Hisle PTO has kicked off "Make Your Mark" Direct Give. Our PTO is starting from ground zero and needs our help. The PTO looked into fundraising, but it's always challenging to sell wallpaper or cookie dough with only a 40-50% return...this fundraiser provides 100% directly back to your children. The campus, families, and our community work in partnership to help make Hisle great! The campus works in partnership to determine what is important to fund. This year, we wish to ensure that EACH child has the opportunity to go on a field trip including our preK children. Field trips cost between $12-20 per child including transportation on a bus. In addition, our goal is to bring an enricment assembly to your children each semester which could include a science event or an author visit. Eventually, we would like to offer this each nine weeks! All of these (field trips, assemblies) are extra and are not accounted for in the school budget since it funds the day to day operations inside the classroom. Please consider participating! We appreciate your partnership!
Speaking of partnerships, Hisle PTO met with Room Reps for each class last week. Each homeroom parent would like to communicate with you regarding holiday celebrations, teacher birthday, and campus events! If you do NOT wish for us to share your contact information of email, please reach out to your homeroom teacher by October 4th. On October 7th, we will share email for each homeroom with the homeroom representative. Our goal is to make it easy on families!
Remember, Hisle Hounds howl loud and proud!

Child Protection Learning!
As you know, teachers in Leander ISD utilize the Second Step curriculum to teach children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. It also helps our school be a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn.
To meet the required State of Texas Health TEKS for the instruction to prevent child abuse, Leander ISD counselors will utilize lessons from the Second Step Child Protection Curriculum. These lessons will teach students three types of skills: Personal Safety, Touching Safety, and Assertiveness. In order for students to participate in these lessons, parents must complete the grade-level Opt-In/Opt-out form for each student here at Hisle. You can find this form below for each grade level:
LISD Clothes Closet
The Leander ISD PTA supports our community by maintaining a LISD clothes closet. Families within the LISD community may shop PreK through the SELF (18+ Program) for gentle new and used clothes. If you are able to support the clothes closet they do have an Amazon Wish List for Donations Needs.

Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination for 3rd-5th Grade!
Does your 3rd-5th grade child like to build, design, invent, create, perform, and work with a team to solve challenges? If so, they might be interested in participating in Destination Imagination (DI).
Destination Imagination (DI) is an extracurricular, school-sponsored program that fosters students' creativity, team-based problem-solving skills, and life skills. Leander ISD Destination Imagination is open to all third through fifth-grade students. Each team must have a team manager to facilitate team practices. Below is a document detailing the team manager's responsibilities. If your child is interested in participating in DI, please read the attached DI information and complete the DI registration form with your child. All registration forms are due by October 1st. You may print them and return them to your child’s teacher or email them directly to me at cerina.menist@leanderisd.org. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your support. Go Hisle Hounds!
