Where is GATE taking us?
April Standards
GS4 Students will develop affective attributes to build their motivation and enjoyment of
complex challenges.
Curriculum
Students will continue exploring Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences through targeted lessons: Verbal-Linguistic (storytelling), Logical-Mathematical (puzzles and logic exercises), Visual-Spatial (spatial memory building), and Artistic (art with a musical influence). In March, students took a Multiple Intelligences assessment to identify their strengths and interests. This month’s lessons will help them further develop their strengths and explore strategies to enhance other intelligences.
How Parents Can Support at Home:
· Verbal-Linguistic: Encourage storytelling by having your child retell favorite stories, create their own, or keep a journal.
· Logical-Mathematical: Engage in logic puzzles, Sudoku, or strategy games like chess to strengthen reasoning skills.
· Visual-Spatial: Provide hands-on activities like building with blocks, drawing maps, or assembling puzzles.
· Artistic: Explore art with music—have your child paint or draw while listening to different genres or discuss how music influences their creativity.
These simple activities can help reinforce classroom learning and foster a deeper understanding of multiple intelligences!
