CLEARWATER STEAM NEWSLETTER

Our 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat at Clearwater Elementary was a spooky success! For a full hour from 5-6 p.m., candy was distributed nonstop, filling the night with excitement and treats. We loved hosting this community event not only for our current Dolphins but also for future and former Dolphins and their families. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff members and parents who went all out decorating their vehicles, creating a fun and festive atmosphere, and to the hundreds of participants who joined in the celebration. This week, Mrs. Thompson, our Wellness TOSA, led a heartwarming Kindness lesson with our first-grade students, focusing on the importance of kindness and the joy of making new friends in our school and classroom community. Each class created a kindness chain, with every student contributing a link to represent kindness. These chains are a wonderful reminder of the caring community we’re building together!

This week, our 5th graders engaged in an exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity focused on the dangers of microplastics in the environment. They learned how these tiny particles can harm wildlife and pollute our ecosystems, leading to long-term environmental damage. As part of their project, students were challenged to create an upcycle—a creative way to repurpose waste materials into new, valuable items. Through upcycling, they transformed potential trash into useful products, showing innovative solutions for reducing waste and protecting our planet. Some students made coin purses, decorations using plastics, and some created toys like this bat and baseball set!

In our Kinder Project-Based Learning (PBL) our youngest students learned about weather! With curiosity and creativity, kindergarten students explored different weather conditions and put their ideas into action by designing model umbrellas. These tiny engineers thought about ways to make their umbrellas strong enough to withstand rain, wind, and even hail.

RED RIBBON WEEK is Celebrated Annually in October. Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year.

There is so much learning going on every day at Clearwater - we don't want our students to miss a moment! As much as we like long weekends, missing a Monday or a Friday can have a big impact on students' achievement. We want to see every student at school, every day. Students earn Splash Cash for attending school each day, and DOUBLE the Splash Cash if they are at school every day for the week - including Monday and Friday.
