Message from Principal Webb
Hello Longhorn Families!
It's been a great short week at Longfellow. We had Kindergarten round up on Wednesday, spring pictures and 3rd grade performed a music concert.
The Book Fair and Art Show (open house) is this coming week. Families are invited to shop at the book fair and also browse the student artwork displayed.
Our Longhorns have also earned a PBIS dance party during the day on Tuesday for being Safe, Supportive and Responsible.
Remember that the 2025-26 school year registration is open. If you need support registering your students feel free to call the office or stop in.
Have a great weekend!
Principal Webb

4th Grade Music Performance!
4th graders will be sharing some of the music they have been learning this year at 2:00 on Wed, April 30. Please join us if you are able!
Band Interest for future 5th graders!
Band Newsletter for parents: https://secure.smore.com/n/ycft4
Starting this year, the district will be shifting to spring recruitment (end of 4th grade) for band and orchestra instead of at the beginning of the school year (start of 5th grade). During the week of April 14th - 18th, students will be shown a recruitment video during their music class time. Then, on April 28th from 6 - 8 PM, we will be hosting an instrumental tryout night at SEMS, for current 4th grade families. This night is simply for the students to try the instruments to see what they are interested in. Students will have until the beginning of the following school year to acquire their instrument and supplies. Elementary band and orchestra staff will be looping back to students who are unable to make it to the evening event.

South East Middle School Boost
Hello Incoming Sixth Grade Families!
We hope this message finds you well as we wrap up a great school year. For planning purposes, we are already starting to think about getting students acclimated for the 2025-2026 school year. Because of this, we are excited to announce our Summer Boost Program!
The Summer Boost Program is for any incoming 6th grader who expresses interest. The program is designed to help reduce anxiety and help students acclimate to middle school. Not every student will need BOOST as we do offer an orientation opportunity for all 6th graders in August prior to school starting. The Summer Boost Program is run by members of the Southeast faculty and staff. The purpose of the Boost program is to provide students an intensive orientation experience including:
Opportunities to meet and build community with Southeast students and staff.
Learning about the resources and opportunities available at Southeast
Chances to tour the building and practice navigating from place to place
Learning Southeast’s community/PBIS expectations (academic and social)
Here are the logistical details:
Southeast Middle School Summer Boost Program
SEMS Boost is a two day program and we will be offering two sessions. Families will need to select either session 1 or session 2.
Session 1: July 28/29 or Session 2 July 30/31
Times: 8:50-11:50am
Transportation: No bus transportation is available
Please use Form Link to register your child for Southeast Middle School’s Summer Boost Program. If you have any questions please contact: Emily Dvorak, Dean of Students, at 319-688-1070, dvorak.emily@iowacityschools.org
