Building Relationships

One of our long-term goals as a school is to build positive relationships with our students and parents. We believe that focusing on positive relationships will have a positive effect on student achievement and learning. We do this through relationship-building games and activities on the first day of school and have a primary focus on getting to know our students as best we can with the time we have with them.

Additionally, it is important to know who your students are building relationships with! Here is a list of new staff in our building, and their role in our school -

Officer Jessica Meyer - School Resource Officer - Jessica will be working with staff and students to create a safe and positive school environment.
Ismael Torres - Special Education Teacher - Mr. Torres teaches High School Special Education and is our Head Football Coach.
Brielle Lueck - Social Studies Teacher - Ms. Lueck will teach 8th -10th grade Social studies classes.
Dylan Erler - Middle School Mathematics - Mr. Erler teaches 6th , 7th, and 8th grade mathematics, along with coaching Middle School Football.
Jesse Ard - High School Business and Marketing - Mr. Ard is a previous substitute who is taking over our Marketing program at the High School level
Sebastian Smith - Physical Education - Mr. Smith will both middle and high school Physical education, along with being an assistant coach on our football staff.
Trent Julius - Physical Education and Health - Mr. Julius will handle middle school health classes and MS/HS Physical Education.
Pete Lowery - Technology and Engineering Education - Mr. Lowery is a veteran teacher in our district, but he is taking on a new role as our Tech Education teacher.

Student Handbook Updates

Our Student Handbook is similar to previous years, but there are a few additions and changes that I want parents to be aware of -

Cellphones -

High School Students -

Students may use cellphones between classes, before and after school, and during lunch. Cell phones must be put away during class.

Middle School Students -

7th/8th Grade Students - Cellphones should be shut off and put away in their locker from 8am-320pm - No cellphone use during the school day.

6th Grade - Students will be turning in their cellphones to the Language Arts Teacher at the beginning of the school day, and getting them back at 3:15pm

Consequences for cellphone violations

Primary Referral - Our first course of action with be a restorative conversation between the teacher/student/office during 2nd Chance breakfast. If violations continue, a Progressive discipline approach is used where the cellphone is in the office for the remainder of the day, is turned each school day to the office for a week, and then longer periods of time-based on continued violations.

Our goal is to teach the appropriate use of technology, which focuses on Self-Management and mutual respect for others in the classroom.

After School Activities - Dances, Extra-Curricular Events

If students are not involved in an after-school activity (practice or other activity that begins right away after school, they must leave the school building by 3:45. If a ride is late, students must wait in the commons or MS/HS office. Students may NOT stay after school for events. They need to go home and then come back for the event.
