Orchestra Open House is May 22
Orchestra Open House
Event until 7 p.m. in Maple Orchestra Room
Wednesday, May 22, 2024, 04:00 PM
Maple School, Shermer Road, Northbrook, IL, USA
Dear Prospective Orchestra Parents,
Today a very special demonstration was presented to your child’s class. Each string instrument in the orchestra was demonstrated and the children were given the opportunity to try one of the instruments!
Beginning orchestra classes will start in September. To enroll, please complete the following steps:
Begin orchestra sign up by clicking the button below
Complete the Achievement Through Commitment form and bring it to the Open House.
Attend Open House on Wednesday May 22 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Maple School.
We hope you will discuss this exciting opportunity with your child. Learning to play a musical instrument is a challenging and rewarding activity. It places your child in a creative learning environment with an outstanding group of students.
Interested parents and students are invited to attend an Open House Registration where you can learn more about the orchestra program. Both Mrs. Yoo and Mrs. Barrett will be there to answer questions.
Representatives from Quinlan and Fabish Music Co., a reputable school music company, will be available to discuss a convenient rental plan for orchestral instruments which is the only cost to participating in the orchestra program. Each student participating is required to have the proper size instrument, a book and a music stand.
Please make an effort to attend the Open House registration at Maple School. At that time, there will be a display of instruments to properly measure the correct size for your child. We look forward to sharing the rewards of music with you and your child, and meeting you at the Open House!

Maple PTO 2024-25 Committee Chair signup!
The Maple PTO invites rising 6th-, 7th- and 8th-grade parents to consider volunteering to be a Committee Chair or Member. Covering a variety of activities and commitment levels, the co-chair and member positions are a great way to meet new people and get involved at Maple!
Positions are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. To allow as many parents the opportunity to chair a committee as possible, we will be limiting volunteers to two committees until May 24. After May 24, you will be able to sign up for more than two committees. Click below to sign up to become a committee chair and or learn more about committee chair positions for the 2024-25 school year.
Please reach out with any questions to maplepto@district30.org.
Thank you for volunteering!
Attention all Willowbrook student musicians!!
Here is your chance to perform for your friends and family! Play at our Willowbrook Student Recital on Thursday, May 30. If you are interested, here is what you do:
- Speak with your music instructor about a short piece that you would like to play. I would suggest that it be a piece that you already know very well.
- Fill out the form below and submit it by Friday, May 24.
Please note that students can only perform one piece. The limit of one selection allows all Willowbrook student musicians to have an opportunity to perform at the recital. Parents of the performers are also invited to attend the recital on Thursday, May 30 at 2:15 p.m.
Upcoming iPad collection for grades 3-5
As we near the end of the District 30 school year, the technology staff will begin collecting student iPads starting on Wednesday, May 29, so that iPads may be cleaned, updated, and prepared for the next school year. As part of the collection process, students will turn in their iPad devices and district-issued cases, which will be checked for any damage or repair needs.
5th grade only: Students are required to return their iPad charging cables and bricks. They will receive new iPads and chargers in 6th grade.
3rd and 4th grade only: Students will NOT turn in their iPad charging cables and bricks. Please keep them in a safe place for the summer and be ready to use them next year!
A fee may be owed if a required item is not returned, or returned in an unusable condition. Parents will receive an email with more information and steps on how to pay the fee in the Parent Portal account.
