A Message from the Superintendent
January 26, 2024
Dear Winnetka Families and Staff,
We are reaching out with an update from our administrative team as we begin to plan for the 2024/2025 school year. While we would typically not share news like this late on a Friday afternoon, we wanted to ensure you had this information in as timely a manner as possible. Two members of our administrative team will be moving on at the end of this school year to new opportunities, and we wanted to provide you with some information about how we are planning for these transitions.
Ms. Beth Carmody, Hubbard Woods Principal, has accepted a position as a K-2 elementary principal in another district, beginning July 1, 2024, and is pending that Board’s approval on Monday evening. We wish her the very best in this transition and are grateful for her leadership over the past eight years in Winnetka. We know that changes like this can be bittersweet, especially for a school community as closely knit as Hubbard Woods; however, we are grateful for the time we have to plan together for selecting and welcoming the next leader of this special school.
Mr. Brad Goldstein, Chief Financial Officer for the District, will be retiring as of June 30, 2024. Mr. Goldstein has served as our CFO for the last seven years, and been a leader in schools for 15 of his 33 year career. We congratulate him on reaching this important milestone, and for his service to our schools through numerous large-scale projects.
Both openings have been posted today and these searches will begin immediately. It is a priority to include Hubbard Woods staff, families and students as we select their new principal, and we look forward to sharing the details of how that will happen with the Hubbard Woods community in the coming weeks. Ultimately, we aim to be able to name two highly qualified individuals for each role this spring, but will, of course, prioritize the right selection over the timeline.
Having shared this news, I want to recognize that while change is both complex and inevitable, we also recognize the resilience, strength and momentum alive in our District community. It is those very qualities that will attract the next leaders to our team and continue the good work that we are all dedicated to seeing through. Please join me in congratulating both Beth and Brad and readying our community to warmly welcome its next great leaders.
Most Sincerely,
Dr. Kelly Tess
