Junior High Honours Program: 2025-26 Applications
Is your child considering the Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) Junior High Honours program for the coming school year? The program is designed for students in grades 8 and 9 with high achievement in their core courses and who enjoy a challenging academic environment.
Applications for the 2025-26 EIPS Junior High Honours program are open Jan. 13-26, 2025.
When applications open, the parent/guardian on file in PowerSchool identified as the Permission Click contact for all current grades 7 and 8 students will receive an email through Permission Click outlining the application process for the program—including a link to an application form.
Refer to the EIPS Junior High Honours program information page for details about specific courses within the program and eligibility requirements.

Regulation Practice - Easy As 1-2-3
Easy as 1-2-3
This is a simple attention exercise that can be adjusted for different difficulty levels. Here's how it works:
- Round 1: Grab a partner. You’ll alternate saying the numbers 1, 2, and 3. For example:
- You say "1," your partner says "2," you say "3," and then your partner starts again with "1."
- Keep repeating this sequence as long as you can without making a mistake.
- Round 2: Instead of saying "3," you’ll clap your hands. The sequence now becomes:
- You say "1," your partner says "2," you clap on "3," and then your partner starts with "1" again.
- Try to keep it going without any errors.
- Round 3: This time, instead of saying "1," you raise both your hands. The sequence looks like this:
- You raise your hands for "1," your partner says "2," you clap for "3," and then your partner starts again with "1."
- Continue until someone makes a mistake.
Try to do each round if you can! This focused attention strategy builds teamwork, allows you to focus in on one specific task and resets your brain!
To try out previous week's regulation strategies, check out the Regulation Strategies page on our school website.
Field Trip Policy - Driving Students
Elk Island Field Trip Policy (AP260) states that all students shall be transported to and from a field trip using school provided transportation when provided. If there are extenuating circumstances where your child needs to have alternate transportation, it must be approved prior to the day of the field trip by the Principal.
Please reach out to the school if you have any questions about the policy or procedures.

Kindergarten Registration Starts Soon!
Is your child turning five on or before Dec. 31, 2025? If so, it’s almost time to register for kindergarten.
Kindergarten registration opens for the 2025-26 school year on Feb. 1, 2025. To help families prepare, Elk Island Public Schools has put together an online EIPS Kindergarten Tool kit to make the transition as smooth as possible. The kit includes information on registration, important dates, programming options, what to expect, eligibility, how to find your designated school, transportation and more.
Returning Student Registration for 2025-26
The Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) returning student registration process for 2025-26 takes place Feb. 10-24, 2025. Through the online form, all families will confirm the school and program their child will attend next year or advise the Division if they aren’t returning. For students who want to attend a non-designated school next year, these requests must be submitted through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space.
On February 10, the parent/guardian on file in PowerSchool identified as the Permission Click contact for each pre-kindergarten to Grade 11 student will receive an email through Permission Click with a link to the form. If your family hasn’t received any Permission Click forms this school year, contact the school office so we can investigate any technical issues before registration season.
