Dear Trails Families,
As we step into May, it’s hard to believe how quickly this school year has flown by! As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we want to take a moment to reflect and celebrate. It’s been a year full of learning, growth, and connection. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community and supporting your children every step of the way.
Coming Soon:
CAMP Trails 2025-2026! 🏕️
We’re thrilled to share our theme for the 2025–2026 school year:
"CAMP Trails – Cultivating Achievers with Motivation and Purpose."
Next year, we’ll be on a journey of discovery — guiding students to set goals, stay motivated, and find purpose in their learning. Think of it like a year-long camp experience where every trail leads to growth, grit, and adventure! We can’t wait to bring this theme to life in and out of the classroom.

Classroom Spotlights:
PreK: It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the end of our wonderful school year! Your children have grown so much — in their learning, friendships, and independence. We are so proud of all the hard work, curiosity, and creativity they have shown!
Thank you for all your support throughout the year — from reading at home to helping with projects and events. It truly takes a team, and we are so grateful for each of you.
Let’s make these last few weeks full of fun, laughter, and memories!
Kindergarten: Kindergarten has had a great year! We are so pleased with the progress we’ve seen our students make. We know they will excel next year! Lately we have been working on digraphs, long vowels, patterns, and measuring. We are eager for summer to be here but plan to finish strong!
1st Grade: We have been working so hard in first grade on reading fluency as well as math fluency with adding and subtracting to get ready for 2nd grade! We can't wait to celebrate our hard work with our upcoming Camping Week that starts on May 12th. Check folders daily and be on the lookout for notes on all the end-of-year activities that will be going on before summer.
2nd Grade: Wow, what a fantastic year we have had in 2nd grade! We are finishing our year with narrative writings in ELA and discussing shapes, angles, and fractions in math. We are currently completing report cards and benchmark testing. We are looking forward to field day on 5/19, as well as many other fun end-of-the-year activities. Please be on the lookout for a schedule from your student's teacher. Thank you for sharing your students with us this year! It has been an amazing year!
3rd Grade: Third grade has completed state testing and looks forward to a fun end of the year. In addition to some exciting activities, we will finish the year examining various genres of text in literature and sharpening some necessary math skills for 4th grade. Don't forget to squeeze in some practice with multiplication facts at home over the summer; they are so important to being successful in 4th grade!
4th Grade: Wow, this school year is quickly coming to a close. Your children have worked hard, and we have one more big test where they will show what they know. We start off May with our OSTP Math test on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2. Please have them go to bed early each night so they are fresh on test days. After that, we will have two weeks to finish up any final academic topics for the year in class with STEM activities, games, or other methods of engagement. Also, mark your calendars! Our 4th Grade Awards Night will be Monday, May 19, at the PAC from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kids will need to arrive at 5:15 p.m., and the doors open to parents and guests at 5:30 p.m.
Library News: All library books are due May 6! 📚
Finishing the year with reviewing what we learned about the library and books! Each grade will rate the types of books they like to read as well as have the opportunity to suggest new books for the library!
P.E. News: We are finishing up our last month with some of our favorite games. On May 9th, we will have Super Kids Day. This is a fun day for all students to complete a variety of activities with a partner! We are looking forward to a fun month!
Music News: This month in music we will have opportunities to play and review games we’ve learned throughout the year. We will also be reviewing all of the important concepts we’ve learned this year for each grade level!
- Art News: PreK & Kinder - We will be doing artwork around summer! We will start with our ice cream mixed media art unit and will also hand out leftover artwork from the year! 1st-4th grade - We will be catching up on any artwork that isn’t finished from the school year in preparation to bring their folders home!
A Heartfelt Thank You ❤️
We are so proud of all that your children have accomplished this year and so grateful for the trust you place in us. Thank you for being part of our school family. Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and joy-filled summer!

🚌Transportation Information
Transportation - MPS Buses Are Safest Way To School
Mustang Public School’s buses are the safest way to get to and from school each day. Statistics from the School Bus Information Council show that buses are safer for students than airlines, passenger trains and passenger cars, which have the highest injury rate.
Mustang’s bus drivers go through strict training, which includes written tests as well as driving instruction and a driving test. New bus drivers will have a minimum of 15 hours on-the-road training with Mustang transportation department staff before they begin transporting children. Training is provided in-house.
Besides the benefits of safety, when more students ride the bus it significantly reduces congestion around the schools. It is also means a gas savings for parents.

đźš— Car Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Thank you to those that scoot all the way up & make your car rider sign visible!
THANK YOU for keeping your car rider tag visible!!! YOU ROCK!
Procedures for Car Riders
*When dropping off or picking up students, all vehicles MUST use the car rider lane located off of Czech Hall road. The front drive of the school is for school buses, daycare vans, and handicapped students. If you do not have a PINK handicapped tag you will be stopped when trying to enter the front drive during arrival (7:15-7:45) and dismissal (2:15-2:45).
*All vehicles MUST go through the drop off/pick up line. Vehicles SHOULD NOT park unless you are going into the school with your child. If you need to park, please park on the east side of the school in a parking place.
*Morning Drop off begins at 7:15 AM. No supervision is provided before then.
* The entry from Czech Hall will remain one lane. Two rows of traffic will be formed after entering the car rider drive. Duty teachers will direct parents as to when students should exit their cars. Please be aware of what is going on around you as multiple cars will unload at the same time. Watch for a staff person to direct traffic to move forward with a Stop/Go sign. The left lane of traffic will turn left out of Trails, Right lane will turn right. There will be no crossover of traffic.
*While in the car rider lane, parents should remain in vehicles. There will be staff members on duty if a child needs help entering/exiting a vehicle. ALL STUDENTS MUST EXIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR FOR SAFETY.
*At 7:40 am, the K- 4th grade car rider lane will be closed and used for Pre-K drop off only (from 7:50-8:00). At that time, parents must park and walk your child in the main doors and check them in through the office as your student is considered tardy. (We will not count tardies for the first week of school to give everyone time to get used to the procedures and to allow our car line to move more quickly.)
*During afternoon dismissal, if you do not have your car rider tag, you will be asked to come into the office and show ID before a child is released. This is for the safety of our students. Our Office closes at 3:00. All children should be picked up by 2:50pm.
*At no point should children be dropped off and left unescorted by an adult when coming to school. (late check ins, doctors appts, etc)
Please have coats on, backpacks ready, lunch boxes in hand and kisses and hugs completed before time to exit the car. This will help make our car line more efficient.
Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.
