We are trying something new! We hope this Dolphin Update helps you feel connected to our learning community. We will use this newsletter to keep you informed about instruction, special activities, upcoming events as well as provide you with resources, so that we can work together to ensure all our students experience success.

This was an exciting week as two grade levels took field trips! Our 1st Graders went to the Zoo and our 3rd Graders went to the Fleet Science Center. Creating experiences that extend learning from the classroom into the community is incredibly powerful. Thank you to our classroom teachers for planning the trips, to our chaperones for supporting our learners in the field, and to our PTA for funding the buses to each respective location. More grade levels will be taking field trips soon, we look forward to sharing those adventures too!

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a term for the way children acquire social and emotional skills. It includes things like managing difficult emotions, making responsible decisions, handling stress, setting goals, and building healthy relationships. As a school site we know that academic learning accelerates when we take a multi-layered approach to supporting our students' SEL growth and development. Our Parent Teacher Association works with Jones Elementary to provide programs and support to benefit the students, their families, teachers, school administration and the community. Run entirely by volunteers, the PTA raises money to support our contributions like enrichment programs, program instructors, and classroom supplies.
