Great Work Parkwood Students
I hope everyone was able to stay safe during the storms and power outage last week! We have a lot of fun events as we wrap up the final two weeks of May.
Girls on the Run 5k:
We are thrilled to congratulate our students that participated in the Girls on the Run 5k event held yesterday! Our girls showed incredible determination and perseverance as they completed the race. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who came out to support our students. Your presence and encouragement meant a lot to them. We are proud of each and every participant and the positive values they demonstrated throughout the event.
Last Days for A/T classes and PEEP classes:
Last Day of Academically Talented classes are being held this week. Also it is the last Day for our Pre-K PEEP students is this Friday, May 23rd.
Upcoming Events:
Wednesday May 21st Kindergartners will be walking to Crane Park for a picnic. More information will be coming directly from your teachers. Also on Wednesday is our Senior Alumni clap out at 3:00. Families can line up around the back track to create a Parade route, seniors will line up out front by the door closest to the parking lot for the start of the Parade.
Thursday May 22nd, third graders will be attending a field trip to the Grand Rapids public museum. Please make sure your child is at school on time so they do not miss the 9:15 bus departure.
Parkwood Upjohn Orchestra and Drum Choir Concert is this Thursday May 2nd. See flyer below for details. I have included a preemptive sign out form below as well. If you would like to sign out your younger children to come watch the performance and/or if you will be signing out your 4th/5th grader after the performance please fill out this form ahead of time. This will help us get the students ready sooner to come watch the performance with you.
5th grade students will be attending the track meet at Kalamazoo Central this Friday, May 23rd as part of their PE curriculum requirement. This is such a fun event for them and busses will depart promptly at 9:10. Please support our 5th graders being to school on time that day. We will not be holding classes at the school for 5th graders on that day, so if a student misses the bus, their families might need to either drive them to the meet or take them home for the day with an excused absence.

PTO sponsored Carnival
It's almost the end of the school year, which means it's time to celebrate by having fun together! The PTO will be sponsoring the CARNIVAL on May 30 from 5-7pm on the blacktop behind the school. There will be games, food, music, raffles and an all around good time!

Students are encouraged to bring in an item to add to their grade level baskets that will be raffled off at the carnival.

Third Grade - Book Lovers Collection
Fourth Grade - Summer Fun Fest
Fifth Grade - Camping Quest
