The SAT will be offered to 11th Grade on March 26th
We are pleased to inform you that Turner College and Career High School will be offering the SAT to all 11th grade students during the school day on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. This opportunity is provided at no cost to families, as the exam fees are fully covered by the school district.
What is the SAT?
The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized exam widely used for college admissions in the United States. It assesses students' skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, providing a key benchmark for college readiness. Many universities and scholarship programs consider SAT scores as part of their application process.
Why Take the SAT?
- College & Career Readiness – The SAT helps students gauge their academic strengths and areas for growth.
- Scholarship & College Opportunities – A strong SAT score can enhance college applications and qualify students for scholarships.
- Convenience & Accessibility – Students will take the test during the school day, eliminating the need to register for a weekend exam.
- No Cost to Families – The district is covering the full cost, ensuring that all students have access to this opportunity.
- Future Flexibility – Even if a student does not plan to attend college immediately after high school, having an SAT score can keep doors open for future education, military programs, and career training opportunities that may require standardized testing.
SAT Review Day – March 7
To help students prepare, we will be hosting an SAT Review Day on Friday, March 7, 2025 during the school day 2nd- 8th period. Students will attend six SAT prep sessions and be excused from 2nd- 8th period for that day. During this event, students will rotate through Math, English, and test taking strategies review sessions led by our teachers. This will be a free opportunity for all juniors to strengthen their test-taking skills.
If you would like additional practice, Ms. Darrow will be hosting math specific Desmos SAT tutorial sessions on March 24th and March 25th from 2:45-4pm. Please click here to sign up.
Additional Benefits of Attending:
- Incentives through math classes
- A Review Questions & Test-Taking Strategies Booklet
- Focused practice to boost confidence for the exam
We encourage all juniors to participate in both the SAT Review Day and the official SAT test on March 26. Taking the SAT now—while it’s free and conveniently offered at school, can be a valuable asset for students, no matter their post-high school plans.
