5th Graders Published in "Fright Club"!
Exciting news! 48 of our 5th-grade students have been recognized by the Young Writers organization and will have their work published in the upcoming "Fright Club" anthology! 🎉
This contest challenged students to craft 100-word mini-sagas, creating suspenseful and creative stories with a tight word limit—no small feat! A huge shoutout to Sandy Baker and the Young Writers Club for giving our students this amazing opportunity.
We’re so proud of our young authors—keep writing, keep imagining, and keep pushing those creative boundaries! 📝✨

Exciting News from SMS Art!
We are thrilled to announce that Israel Hicks (Grade 6) has been selected as a winner for the Glasstastic 2025 competition! His imaginative creature, Mr. Funny / Mr. Slap, was chosen by artist Peter Muller, who will bring Israel’s design to life as a glass sculpture.
Israel’s artwork will be showcased at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, with an exhibition opening on Saturday, March 22, at 5 p.m. After the exhibit closes in November, Israel will get to take home his one-of-a-kind glass creation!
Congratulations, Israel! We can't wait to see your incredible design come to life. 🎉🔥🖌️

5th Grade Explores Architectural Scale Modeling!
During IAT in January, our 5th-grade students were introduced to architectural scale modeling! Working collaboratively, each student contributed to a class project that spanned across three tables, coming together to build a 3D model of a small town.
This hands-on experience allowed students to explore design, creativity, and teamwork—all while having a great time! 🏗️🏡🎨
Way to go, 5th graders! 🎉
