Edition 4: Book Fair news
A Huge Thank You.
Students and staff at Oathall spent over £600 at the Scholastic Book Fair, giving us £243.40 to spend on books for the library. I have chosen books from the student wishlist and they are already en route to school. With the help of our student librarians, these will be added to the library collection before Easter, on display for all to see and borrow.
Without your support, this would not be possible so thank you everyone who supported the Book Fair, I hope your children are enjoying their books.
Crongton Knights book series adapted for television.
The late Alex Wheatle's book series set in London has been adapted for the screen and is now on iPlayer. The books are popular in the libray and are aimed at children from year 7 onwards. Why not watch as a family? Perhaps put the subtitles on if your child is a reluctant reader, they help build confidence and spelling.
Other BBC iPlayer adaptaions
Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief - the musical!
If you are looking for activites over the Easter holidays, perhaps consider this musical adaptaion of one of the most popular children's book series of the last 15 years. Adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel by Joe Tracz, writer of Be More Chill, and with an electrifying rock score by Rob Rokicki, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is the perfect adventure for gods and mortals alike.
Awareness Days in March celebrated in the library.
Celebrate Spring with one of these books.
And finally...
We will be celebrating Earth Day the first week back after the Easter holidays with events at lunchtimes in the library. They will include craft activities using recyled materials, thought-provoking questions on the blackboard for everyone to answer and finally an Open Mic event on Friday 25th April where anyone can speak.
We are also starting a student-led Green Club (new name to be decided by the students) so if your child is passionate about the environment, please send them to the library to sign up.
