Middle School Science Fair
The 7th grade students at EPAMS participated in the first annual Middle School Science Fair on May 6th. Starting in October the students worked diligently during "Science Fair Fridays" to learn the scientific method, develop their experiments and prepare presentations on a wide variety of scientific topics. During the day on Tuesday, they finally had the opportunity to present their findings to a variety of staff judges in a traditional science fair format. Students were then invited back with their families in the evening to celebrate the results of their hard work by conducting a gallery walk of all the projects. Please congratulate the award winners and all the 7th graders for their dedication and perseverance! Thank you to Aimee Downing and Dani Maxwell at the Middle School for all of their hard work to create this opportunity for our students!

Surgery Live
On Wednesday, a group of students from the high school who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field had the extraordinary opportunity to experience Surgery Live. Cardiology Expert Physicians from UPMC performed a procedure known as a Watchman or left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO). The surgery was performed at UPMC Harrisburg, and students were able to watch it live at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts Imax theatre. Doctors were able to audibly interact with students during the procedure and answer any questions they had. In addition to seeing the Watchman procedure live, students were given a bonus by also being able experience a previously recorded hysterectomy surgery.
Thank you to Mr. Barlup for arranging this exciting opportunity for our students!
