Way to go Sunrise Battle of the Books Team!
This week, the Sunrise Battle of the Books team that took home the Sunrise top finish competed against the top finishers from Southwood, Kibler, Black Diamond, and Westwood! These students answered questions in a relay-style format about numerous books that they read over the course of the year. It was wonderful to see the team work together and cheer each other on! While they did not emerge with the top score at the end of the competition, they gave it their all and were kind and supportive of everyone competing. Way to go "Pink Spitting Llamas" on all of your hard work and good sportsmanship!
Sunrise End of Year Family Event THIS COMING WEEK!
Sunrise PTO will be holding a Carnival as our end of year event! Come by between 5:30 and 7:30 on Thursday, June 6th and celebrate with our school community!
In the past, we have held a BBQ. This year, the focus is on games and activities instead of a meal. However, there will still be free popcorn, snow cones, Italian sodas, and water, and there will be food trucks with food available for purchase. In addition, there will also be a free glow party, bouncy house, and bubble area. We hope you can join us!
If you are able to volunteer at the event, there are time slots of around 35 minutes to help with different areas. We would appreciate your help! See the link below to be taken to the sign up.

Purchase Yearbooks in the Office
If you would like to order a yearbook, you can still do so with cash or check in the Sunrise office. There are a limited number available, so purchase before we run out! We can also check to see if you have purchased a yearbook, just call or stop by the office.
Helpful Consequences
As we move into Summer with looser schedules and routines, kids often need the aid of consequences to guide their choices. Here are 3 types of consequences that can be helpful:
Natural Consequences
Allowing children to experience the natural results of their actions when safe (e.g. feeling cold without a coat) can teach powerful lessons.
Logical Consequences
When natural consequences can't occur safely, we can impose a respectful, related consequence (e.g. losing toy privileges for not cleaning up).
Problem-Solving Consequences
Guide children to reflect, take responsibility, and find better solutions for next time. Teach any missing skills that may be needed to find the solution.
By helping children learn from the consequences of their choices in a supportive way, rather than using punishments, they build self-discipline, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities.

Parents/guardians must be volunteers in order to help in classrooms, eat lunch in the lunchroom with their child, or visit the playground to join their child at recess. The volunteer application is available by clicking the link below.
