The Importance of Attendance in Elementary School
Consistent school attendance is essential for every child’s academic success. Research shows that students who attend school regularly build strong learning habits, develop social skills, and perform better academically.
Why Attendance Matters:
Builds a Strong Foundation: Daily attendance ensures students don’t miss key lessons that build upon each other.
Encourages Responsibility: Establishing good attendance habits in elementary school sets the stage for lifelong success.
Supports Social Development: Being in school helps children form friendships, develop teamwork skills, and engage in classroom discussions.
Prepares for Future Success: Students who attend school regularly are more likely to stay on track academically and graduate on time.
How You Can Help:
Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine.
Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible.
Communicate with the school if your child must be absent due to illness.
Encourage a positive attitude about school and learning.
Every school day counts! Let’s work together to make attendance a priority and set our students up for success.
Thank you,
DSmyers
Counselor's Connection
Happy February! It is always a good time to celebrate the special things about each child that makes them unique! During the month of February we think about showing others love and affection…However, I want to encourage you to help your child show love to themselves and learn to love all the special qualities that make them uniquely who they are. We know that when a person is comfortable with who they are… and likes who they are, they can better see the good in others and appreciate others for who they are! Sometimes it is easy to notice all the ways we are different. When we look around, we can start to notice that everyone is created to be unique. We can appreciate how our friends and family all look different, have different likes and dislikes, and have different skills. Help your child by pointing out the individual qualities that make each of your family members and friends special. Attached you will find a short story, titled “The Reflection in Me”, the main character has a conversation with their own reflection in the mirror. The reflection compliments them on not only the way they look, but also things about their character and hobbies. Take a few minutes to watch this video with your child and remind them that the reflection in their mirror can stop and have a conversation with them too! Let them know, by taking notice of all the things that make them unique and wonderful, they will learn to embrace who they are, and become the best versions of themselves…and also see the uniquely wonderful qualities in others!
Love,
Mrs. Irwin & Mrs. Raney

Nurse's Notes
Dear Parents,
Illnesses are steadily on the rise within our community and we ask that you please monitor your child for signs of illness before sending them to school. They should be kept home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of illness, including fever, excessive coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, severe sore throat or excessive fatigue. Should they become ill they must remain home at least 24 hours and should be fever-free and show an improvement in symptoms without the use of over the counter medications.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping to maintain a healthy school environment for everyone.
