Total Eclipse!
- All Rye Neck students and staff have been provided with ISO 12312-2-standard glasses which are for viewing the eclipse only: they are too dark for any other activity, such as walking or driving.
- 8th period teachers will be giving out the glasses in class on Monday!

Clubs and Classrooms
- Steve Goldberg, Education Director for the Westchester Holocaust and Human Rights Center, spoke to all middle and high school students on Thursday, April 4th about the power of symbols and explored the ways their meanings evolve. See pics here.
- Student of the Week: Last week, Rye Neck's own Ryan Varga won the Lohud Student of the Week contest! This week's contestant is Blathnaid Grenouillon! Let's show her some support! See pic here.
- World Travelers: Mr. Zamek and Ms. Mahmud chaperoned a trip to sunny Spain over spring break. See photo and details here.
- NYC Classroom: Students in AP Comparative Government and Politics took a tour of the United Nations in New York City on Wednesday. Even though it was pouring, they had a great experience and enjoyed lunch at Ravagh Persian Grill. See pics here.
- Cabaret Celebration: On April 4th, students performed a favorite song for the last Cabaret event of the year! Families and friends enjoyed a joyful afternoon of song! See pics here.
Congratulations!
- HOSA Honors: Four Rye Neck High School students competed in HOSA's NYS Spring Leadership Conference: Fiona Fox, Spencer Elliot, Grayson Findlay and Lily Kapustin. Special congratulations to Lily Kapustin! She placed 1st in the Clinical Laboratory Science event that took place in Syracuse, and qualifies to represent Rye Neck at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Texas at the end of June. - Arts News: Congratulations to Eleonore Delcourt who won a Merit Scholarship for the High School Summer Program for the Chicago Institute of Art. Eleonore had to submit an extensive portfolio of work based on fantasy to be considered for this honor. See pic here!
- Congratulations to Junior Abigail Flynn on on winning the Overcoming the Odds Award by Student Advocacy Incorporated. Each year, Student Advocacy hosts an event to honor local youth who, despite facing significant challenges, have made school a priority. Abby will be honored on May 22nd at the Overcoming the Odds Awards Celebration at Sarah Lawrence College. See pic here.
Young Writers
- Lifting Up Westchester Writing Contest: Rye Neck boasts TWO winners for this county-wide contest! Sonali Browning (9th grade)won 1st place in the 9th-10th grade division, and Ella Grann (11th grade) won 1st place in the 11th-12th grade division. They will be honored at an awards ceremony on Sunday April 14 in White Plains--and awarded $500 each! See pic of winners here. Read their work: Sonali's Essay, Ella's essay
- Scholastic Awards in Writing and Art: Congratulations to poets Dylan Blaschuk and Sonali Browning. Dylan was awarded and Honorable Mention for his poem, "Messages by Music from the Universe." Sonali was awarded Silver Keys for her poems, "Snap" and "Adhesive," and an Honorable Mention for "My Bunker." See pics here.
- Ninth Judicial District Annual Essay Contest to Promote Gender Fairness in the Courts: Congratulations to Carys McGrory! She came in 2nd place in this annual contest . She will be honored at an awards ceremony on Friday May 17 at 9 am at the Westchester County Supreme Courthouse. Carys' Essay and pic here.

Free breakfast for all MS/HS students the week of April 8th.
It's Prom Time!!!
The prom will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at the Greentree Country Club. The reception hour will begin at 5:00 p.m.; dinner to follow from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Come join the fun!
- The cost is $100 per person and the dress is black tie optional.
- Checks should be made payable to Rye Neck UFSD.
- Tickets will be on sale THURSDAY 4/4/24 until 5/10/24.
- No refunds after after May 10.
- Purchase tickets and submit forms to any Junior Class Officer at the Senior Lounge during periods 5,7,9 or to Ms. Milo in room S201.

Reminders:
All students attending the prom must submit a permission slip/guest registration form.
Regular attendance at school is mandatory on May 23rd in order to attend the prom.
- Awards Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center for all Juniors and Seniors
Prom fees will not be refunded if a student is not permitted to attend due to disciplinary action or violation of the prom attendance policy.
