Bethel the Beautiful
Week of October 21
Great Week Back!
It was so wonderful to have our students back last week. We know that many of you are still dealing with issues and problems from Hurricane Helene. We are here to help! Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can help you in any way. Your children made us all so happy and I think many of them were excited to get back to school and get their minds off of things. Again, we are here to help and will be happy to, just let us know!
Bethel Blue and White Day - Friday ππ€
With our football players and cheerleaders having to end their season short with one more event this Saturday when they play each other, students may wear their football jerseys and cheerleading uniforms, or just some Bethel Blue and white! Let's show our school and community spirit!
Our free student t-shirts should be available soon! We will send those home as soon as we get them. The company we are using was flooded in the storm and it is taking longer than we predicted. Thanks for your patience!!

Book-O-Ween
We will be having our annual Book-O-Ween event on Halloween, Thursday, October 31st. During Book-O-Ween, teachers act out a book and students travel to each grade level and enjoy the performances. Students will also receive a treat! Classroom teachers will give more instructions, but students will be able to wear their costumes to school on this day. Please see below about some costume guidelines or if you need a costume for your child. If you would like to sign up to help take students around to the different performances, please use the link below! Several classrooms still need volunteers. Thanks!
Does your Child Need a Costume? π»π
If your child needs a costume, please don't hesitate to let us know! Just call school or email Mrs. Watson at awatson@haywood.k12.nc.us Thanks!
Costume Rules πΊ
π Keep it Spooky, Not Scary: Avoid costumes with violent or bloody images. It's okay to look "spooky," but nothing too gruesome.
π¨ Avoid Blow Up Costumes: With the traveling to different classes, sitting down to watch performances and the nature of Book-o-ween, it's hard to maneuver in a blow up costume.
ποΈ Masks and Makeup: Masks that cover the eyes and face are fine, as long as your child can see clearly. Please keep makeup minimal and apply it at home. Remember, learning is still happening, so your child might need to remove their mask during class.
π§₯ Safe Costumes: Make sure your childβs costume doesnβt have anything hanging below the wrist or ankle to avoid tripping or getting things caught.
π Easy-to-Carry Props: If your child has props, they should be easy to manage, especially if they take the bus.
π« No Weapons: Please donβt include any toy weapons in the costume.
π PE-Friendly Costumes: If your child has Physical Education on the 31st, pick a costume thatβs safe and easy to move in.
