Hello Pine Families!

This is a short week at Pine, but a busy one! Tuesday is an early release day. All students will dismiss at noon. There will be no Boys and Girls Club or after school activities so after eating lunch, all students will need to be picked up in the car line or ride the bus home. Be sure your child knows their dismissal plan for that day.

Conferences will begin at 12:30 and run until 7:00. See the information in the letter sent home last week for more information. Contact your child's teacher if you have not yet scheduled an appointment to meet. We're hoping to see all Pine families present and involved!

While you're at Pine for conferences, be sure to stop by the library and visit our Scholastic Book Fair! See the flyer linked here for more information. All purchases help support our school!

Wednesday if the last day of the grading period. Can you believe we're already through the first nine weeks of school! Teachers will be finalizing grades and report cards will be available online later next week. Wednesday is also the last day of for the week as school will be closed Thursday and Friday for Fall Break. We'll see you back at school the following Monday, on time and ready to learn!

Pine is using IDOE Checkpoints in grades 3-6 as a way of monitoring what students know and how prepared they are for the ILEARN assessments in the spring. See the attached family guidance letters attached here for more information. Talk to your child's teacher to find out when your students will be taking this assessment!

Wednesday was Picture Day and all students present took photos for the yearbook. It's not too late to order prints if you still need to! Families may visit www.inter-state.com and use Event Order Code 87558BF to purchase online. Retake day will be Tuesday, Dec. 3 in case you missed out!

In art class, 4th and 5th grade students have been getting ready for their Showcase that will be on October 23rd at 6:00. In Art class, they learned how people for thousands of years molded clay into functional pieces of pottery that can be used to store items. Students then got to experience how clay was fired before electric kilns by having their pieces fired in a pit fire. Different materials were added to the fire to produce different colored smoke that colored their clay pieces.

Pine students enjoyed our brand new playground equipment this week! Thanks to Sodexo and our MCAS Plant Planning Department for the quick installation!

Doors open at Pine each morning at 8:15. Students have until 8:45 to arrive, have breakfast, and wait with their classmates in the gym. Teachers pick up students by 8:35 to head to classrooms. Students arriving after 8:45 are marked tardy. Be sure your children arrive on time!

Late arriving students should be walked into the office by a family member and signed in. Please refrain from dropping students off at the curb without checking them in. Student absences should be called into the office. Students learn most when they are at school each day! Let's work together to have the best attendance possible!

All students will have a supervised 15 minute recess each day before lunchtime.

All Pine students are invited to take a school breakfast and school lunch each day at no cost to families. Parents who prefer to send a home lunch with their child are of course welcome to do so.
