To Our District 115 School Community:

Following District 115 board member Dr. Marcus Schabacker’s resignation, effective April 12, 2024, we invited the community to apply to serve on the board in an interim capacity through the next school board election in April 2025.

In particular, the District 115 Board has sought candidates with strong operational background and relevant governance experience. We received a strong response from qualified candidates and narrowed the pool to two finalists interviewed by the Board of Education last evening.

On behalf of the Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education, I am pleased to report that the Board is recommending Mrs. Annie Geraghty Helms to fill the vacancy on the District 115 Board. The District 115 Board will vote on this at its June 4 meeting.

District 67 Interim Board Openings
As you may know, Annie currently serves as President of the Lake Forest District 67 Board of Education. The District 67 Board will begin accepting applicants for this anticipated board vacancy. The District 67 board began the same process last month when former District 67 Board Vice President Alice LeVert announced her intent to resign in light of her election to the Lake Forest City Council.

It is the Board’s goal to have a selection process that is as open as possible. To this end, the Board encourages all interested and qualified individuals to apply for the District 67 interim positions. Service on the Board is a significant time commitment.
