Semester Bell Schedule:
Dear Seaholm Families,
It’s that time of year again! We are thrilled to announce that during the week of November 18th, Seaholm will be hosting our annual UMatter Week. This special event is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, sharing personal stories, and celebrating that every Seaholm student and staff member truly matters.
This year’s theme is Maples Never Walk Alone, reinforcing our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive community where no one feels alone.
Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging activities designed to foster well-being, connection, and gratitude, including:
- Cider and donuts for a warm treat
- Gratitude chain where students can share what they're thankful for
- Crafts during lunch as a creative outlet
- Yoga sessions to encourage relaxation and mindfulness
- Teacher Talks and Student TEDTalks to inspire and inform
- Therapy dogs to bring some furry comfort to our campus
- Advisory door decorating contest for students to creatively showcase this year’s theme
We’re also excited to host a tour for our incoming Class of 2029 - Future Maples as part of UMatter Week, welcoming our future students to our supportive community.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we prioritize the mental health and well-being of our students. We look forward to an impactful week of unity, learning, and celebration.

District News
Dear BPS families:
As we approach the holiday season, Schools Offer Support (SOS) invites the BPS education community to participate in our annual Season of Giving. This district-wide initiative aims to assist families within our schools who may need support in purchasing holiday gifts. Thanks to the generous contributions from our community last year, SOS was able to assists 59 families, comprising 235 individuals, across nearly every district school. In total, $23,500 in cash and gift cards was distributed to help families with their holiday-gift shopping.
SOS is currently collecting gift cards through Friday, Dec. 6. The donations will be distributed, along with wrapping paper and greeting cards, to ensure families have the opportunity to shop for their holiday gifts. Get additional information and sign up to donate gift cards now.
The Season of Giving is just one of the ways SOS helps support BPS families in need as SOS provided the following last year:
- Fulfilled 70 requests for support submitted by families from district schools, including Lincoln Street Alternative and the Birmingham Adult Transition Program.
- More than $15,000 provided to families for childcare, medical bills, utilities and food.
- Nearly $1,000 in grants to BPS schools for snack pantries and personal hygiene products.
- Funded by donations from Lisa and Louis Cory, graduating seniors from both Groves and Seaholm were awarded grants through the Barbara & Sheldon Weisberg Laptop Scholarship.
We’ve received requests for financial assistant from 18 families this school year, totaling more than $9,000. The BPS community consistently demonstrates its remarkable generosity each year. With your support, SOS aims to assist families in our community once again during the holiday season.
If your family is in need this holiday season and wishes to be considered to receive support through the Season of Giving, please reach out to the Katie Parker, Seaholm Community School Organizer (CSO) kparker@birmingham.k12.mi.us or to Principal Wicker, mwicker@birmingham.k12.mi.us.

First Fridays
The Seaholm parent community recognizes the staff throughout the year on the First Friday ( or second if there is a vacation or half day) of each month. All Seaholm staff member's names are placed in a drawing at the beginning of the year ,and each month names are selected at random for a chance to win one of the many gifts provided by the wonderful community of Seaholm families. The goal is that by the end of the year, every Seaholm staff member has received a gift. Therefore, we need many donations to make this happen! The gift is usually in the $20 and up range and has been anything from gift cards, household items, event tickets, or anything you feel is appropriate. Please consider donating by signing up below. If you are able, please sign up to recognize and thank our teachers for all they do.
Send Venmo Donations to : @SeaholmPTA
Seaholm Monthly Staff Treats
Each month the Seaholm parent community and PTA provide a fun treat for the Seaholm staff. The treats are set up in the staff lounge with a note of gratitude for all they do. The note also includes the name of the Seaholm family who sponsored the treats. This is a simple way to help add some fun to the day of our Seaholm staff!
If your family would like to help sponsor one of the monthly treat days, you can Venmo $150 to @SeaholmHS-PTA. Please include the family name you would like included on the sign placed with the treats.
