If Your Student Becomes Ill During the School Day: Students who feel ill MUST report to the nurse’s office. The nurse’s office will call the parent, and only then will the student be released to go home. If a student leaves school without checking out of the health office first, the absence will remain unexcused. The health and safety of every student is our top priority.
Campus Pride: Please help us remind students about the importance of taking pride in our school by picking up their trash, refraining from vandalizing school grounds and restrooms, and helping to keep our beautiful campus clean!

COVID Protocols: The health and safety of our students and staff is the district’s highest priority. We know that our communities are still experiencing cases of COVID and want to inform you of the most current protocols if you or your students contract COVID.
If students test positive for COVID, they may return to school as early as Day 6 if they meet all of the following criteria.
- Must feel well.
- Symptoms must be improving.
- The individual has been free of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications for at least 24 hours.
If they return, students should wear a mask on Days 6-10. They may remove their masks sooner than Day 10 with two sequential negative tests one day apart. Per Cal/OSHA, workers must wear masks on Days 6-10 if they return to work.
For your information, the latest decision tree can be found here.

Devices:
- As part of this program, all Coronado High School students are required to bring a fully charged device to school daily. Students who need a device will have the opportunity to check-out a Chromebook during schedule pick-up.
Students Using Personal Devices
CHS students who have personal devices at home may use their own device as an alternative to a CUSD Chromebook. If your student chooses to use a personal device, however, please note that it will not have specific CUSD features, such as testing lockdown browsers and content filters. If your student chooses to use their own device for daily school work, they may still be issued a CUSD Chromebook for state testing in Spring 2024 to meet secure browser requirements.
Students Using CUSD Devices
CHS families who choose to check-out a CUSD Chromebook for their student’s daily school work may keep the device for the duration of their student’s enrollment at CHS, including summers. Students will practice responsibility for operating and maintaining their individual CUSD devices throughout their time at CHS. We also encourage families to purchase the OPTIONAL Mobile Device Protection Plan for CUSD Chromebooks for just $20 a year to limit any fines due to accidental damage. The Protection Plan must be purchased annually within two weeks of the beginning of the school year in order to be valid. A new Protection Plan must also be purchased if a student is provided with a replacement device due to damage/loss of their previous device.
