Drama Department Academy Awards
The GCIT Drama Department and Thespian Society held its annual Academy Awards Night on Thursday. Planned by the Drama Seniors, the theme “Last Dance” inspired 70s Disco outfits with plenty of glitter and sparkle to go around! The night consisted of dinner, spoof skits of the season, musical numbers, awards honoring the 2023-2024 season, and the announcement of the 2024-2025 Thespian Board. Even the Cheetah made an appearance!
Big thank you to Chef Mizia, Chef Yost and the culinary and baking departments and students for helping with the food, the senior drama parents for all of their support, and the stellar advisors and creative teams for the entire season!

Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month!
May is Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month! Students celebrated by tabling all week last week including hosting a Henna table, and "Trivia and Treats" where our own Sophia Nguyen supplied delicious traditional treats if students did well on the quiz!
In addition, on Friday, May 10th, we hosted our first APIDA Heritage Month Celebration full of fun activities! We hosted Words Matter, a local bookstore, who brought Asian authored books for purchase, and our own Media Center tabled with Ms. O'Leary, showcasing APIDA authors that students could check out. Our very own Grace and Hannah Stanley performed a Bollywood mash up dance & did Henna for participants along with Chris and Ruby.
We also sampled food from across APIDA regions including Korean, Japanese, Filipino, and Indian cuisine. Thank you to our own Jilliane Jaugan and her family for hosting a Filipino table, and to Henry for our Photobooth and DJ services!
