Celebrating Celebrations
Did you know that there are at least 20 holidays celebrated in the month of December? There are religious, secular, cultural and local celebrations all around the world, making December the most celebrated month.
Most Hispanic countries follow the Catholic Faith. That does not mean, however, that there are not also Jewish and Muslim people in these countries. When we play traditional games or learn about celebrations, I am always sure to look at the cultural aspects, and not the religion, then compare and contrast with our lives.
Kindergarten is learning their shapes in spanish!
1st grade continues learning about months and making their surprise for you.
2nd grade is enjoying learning about South America and the celebrations enjoyed there.
3rd grade is all about transportation. They have learned that cognates make learning easier.
4th grade continues to study the art of telling time in Spanish and we are beginning discussing weather and clothing.
5th grade is using the structure "Me gusta" and "No me gusta" to discuss their preferences in sports.
