From Miss Angela
Dear VAP Families,
I can hardly believe it’s already Thanksgiving! As we approach this special season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to express how thankful we are for each of our students and their amazing families. Your support and partnership truly make our school community exceptional.
This year, we’re offering a wonderful opportunity to express your appreciation for our incredible staff down below. You can write personalized messages to any of our teachers or team members, which will be transformed into certificates and presented to them next week. It’s a simple yet meaningful way to recognize their dedication and hard work. Please take a moment to share your gratitude—your kind words mean the world to our staff!
This week marks the final stretch of our participation in the Annual Rotary Club of Temecula Holiday Food Drive. Let’s make this year our biggest yet! We’ve added a fun twist with a little friendly competition—our school Houses are competing to collect the most non-perishable food donations. All items should be dropped off in the gym by Thursday, November 21st. Your generosity helps make a difference for those in need in our community.
Our campus is buzzing with excitement as the Scholastic Book Fair is here through November 22nd! Students will visit the fair during their scheduled class times, and families are welcome to shop together after school until 5:30 p.m.This is a fantastic opportunity to foster a love for reading and support our school library at the same time.
Be sure to check out the rest of this newsletter for updates on upcoming events, important dates, and activities. There’s so much to look forward to, and we are so grateful to have you as part of the Van Avery Prep community. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday.
Staff Birthdays This Week (And Next)!
Let’s celebrate some incredible members of our school community who are marking another trip around the sun this month!
Mr. Ryan – November 19th
We’re so lucky to have Mr. Ryan on our support staff team! Since joining us last year, he’s proven to be an incredibly reliable presence who keeps things running smoothly. Thank you, Mr. Ryan, for all your hard work and dedication—have a fantastic birthday!
Miss Faviola – November 26th
Miss Faviola brings so much joy to our school as one of our amazing Spanish teachers. Her kind heart and boundless enthusiasm are contagious, and her positive energy elevates everyone around her. Feliz cumpleaños, Miss Faviola! We hope your day is as wonderful as you are.
Miss Angela – November 27th
A big birthday shout-out to our head of school, Miss Angela! Her caring nature, positivity, and kindness make her a true leader and a cornerstone of our school community. Miss Angela, thank you for all that you do, and we hope you have a truly special birthday!
Congratulations, Rhian Martinez!
We are excited to celebrate our talented 2nd grader, Rhian Martinez, whose artwork from last year's contest has been selected by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to be featured in their 2025 "Being Water Wise Is..." Calendar!
Rhian’s remarkable poster, created as part of the 2023-2024 poster contest, stood out for its creativity and impactful message about water conservation. This is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of Rhian for representing our school in such a meaningful way.
Congratulations once again, Rhian, on this well-deserved recognition! We will keep everyone informed as we receive updates on the current 2024-2025 water poster contest.
Show Gratitude This Thanksgiving – Recognize Our Amazing Staff!

Let’s come together as a community to show our appreciation and spread some holiday cheer!
Join Us in Honoring Our Veterans
Last Monday, we observed Veterans Day—a time to reflect on the courage, sacrifices, and service of our military veterans. To honor their dedication, we invite all families with veterans or active-duty service members to participate in a special commemorative project.
We have created a banner, designed by our talented teacher Miss Margarita, to celebrate and recognize the branches of service in our school community. If you or a family member has served or is currently serving in the military, we encourage you to bring a velcroed patch representing your branch to add to the banner. Don’t have velcro? No worries—we’ll provide that for you!
The banner will be displayed throughout the month, giving us all a chance to come together as a community to show our appreciation and support. If you have any questions, or need assistance with your patch, feel free to reach out to Miss Margarita at mtrujillo@vapeagles.com.
Thank you for being part of this meaningful tribute to our veterans! Together, let's honor those who have served and continue to serve.
Join Us in Spreading Holiday Cheer at the Promenade Mall!
This holiday season, Van Avery Prep, in partnership with Kid's World, is excited to sponsor a festive Christmas tree at the Promenade Mall! Be sure to stop by and experience the magic of our beautifully decorated, walk-through tree. It's a wonderful way to spread holiday cheer and support our school community.
The tree will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity to support local families in need. Want a chance to take home one of these stunning trees? Enter the raffle by purchasing tickets HERE through December 18th. Don't miss out—join us in making this holiday season even brighter!
Scholastic Book Fair This Week!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be on campus today through Friday, November 22nd. Students will have scheduled visits with their class throughout the week. Additionally, students may shop with their parents after school until 5:30 p.m.

We are excited to participate in the Annual Rotary Club of Temecula Food Drive again this year!
