😎 HOPING EVERYONE'S SUMMER HAS STARTED WELL! 😎
NEEDS FOR NEXT YEAR
Lunch and Recess Supervisors
We will be in desperate need of lunch and recess supervisor volunteers next year. The following schedule will be as follows:
PreK - 4th grade Lunch / Recess:
~Lunch begins at 10:45 AM
~Recess ends at 11:45
5th - 8th grade Lunch / Recess:
~Lunch begins at 11:45 AM
~Recess ends at 12:25
If you could work all 5 days per week during the above mentioned times, that would be fantastic. But we are not expecting that. If we can have a group of people that could only do certain days and/or certain hours, we would build a scheduled to try and accommodate everyone's availability.
If interested, please contact Mr. Keefe at 618-566-2922.
Thank you!
BAND AT HCS FOR 25-26
Please take the time to fill out the Google Questionnaire Form below if your child is interested in band for the 25-26 school year. This is only available 5th grade through 8th grade. Thank you.
ATHLETIC PHYSICALS
Below is the form needed for an ATHLETIC PHYSICAL. Students who are planning on participating in athletics at HCS next year will need to have this form filled out by a licensed physician.
We do anticipate having a day near the end of July, where we will have an individual here at HCS to provide your student a sports physical. Details will come later this summer.
New students as well as students going into 6th Grade are required to have an updated school physical. There is checkbox on the Regular School Physical Form (marked "interscholastic sports"). If the doctor checks this box during the examination, that form meets the requirements for the school as well as the sports physical.
If you are simply needing a sports physical, that is also attached below.
POINTS OF EMPHASIS NEXT YEAR
1. Dress Code; Points of Emphasis on skirt and shorts length / no sweatshirts except those indicated in our handbook. A uniform policy at HCS promotes equality, reduces distractions, and reflects the school's values of discipline and unity. It also helps create a sense of community and minimizes peer pressure related to clothing.
2. Attendance and Tardy Policy; An attendance and tardy policy ensures students develop responsibility, maximize learning time, and show respect for the school’s structure and values. It supports academic success and a consistent learning environment.
3. Less Computer/Screen Time; With the obvious exception of when students are using their computers for school work, students should have less computer screen time in order to support healthy brain development, encourage face-to-face interaction with friends, as well as promote the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being rooted in our school’s holistic values.
*Additional information can be found in our Student Handbook located on our webpage under "Current Students".
PERFORMING ARTS CAMPS
Please see message from Jamie Eros, director of the Center for Performing Arts:
My name is Jamie Eros, and I’m reaching out on behalf of the Helene and Dennis Sparger Center for Performing Arts. We’re a brand-new arts education center opening this summer 2025 right here in Belleville. I’m an O’Fallon native and currently living in Belleville, and I have both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in performance. I’ve always wanted to give back to the community, so I decided to open an arts education hub on this side of the river. It’s been a labor of love for the past year and a half, and we’re finally ready to open our doors!
I know some schools might already be out, but if you’re still in session, I’d love it if you could share the included PDF below with your students. We’re offering some really fun and creative summer camps, and we’re especially good at ages pre-k through high school.
We hope these camps will offer something different to those kids who don’t necessarily play sports or excel academically. This will give them an outlet for their creativity and help them build confidence and self-awareness. If you have any questions for me, please don’t hesitate to reach out. As part of our 5-year goal, we want to reach into the communities and provide any help we can during the school day to fill a need. Exciting things are ahead for the performing arts in the Midwest. To learn more, you can find us at www.spargerperformingarts.org or contact me directly at 618-830-4924.
All the best for a happy and healthy summer,
Jamie Eros
