CPA Wins Two Minnesota Promising Practice Awards
A group of CPA staff and board members attended the Character Recognition Awards reception on May 16, where CPA received two Promising Practice Awards!
The first award was for Ms. Baker's Honesty Play. For this project, Ms. Baker's 5th grade students put on a play about the Ethical Principle of Honest for the preschool students. The middle school role models learned by teaching, and the preschool students benefitted by learning from the example of the older students. Cross-grade collaboration is a key feature of building community and fostering relationships, which are crucial components of character education.
The second award was for Mr. Keto's Job Interview Speech. In this project, Mr. Keto's seniors researched currently available job postings for careers they plan to pursue. The students learned about the company and position, prepared the kinds of questions they are likely to face in a job interview, and then participated in mock interviews led by a panel of their peers. Classmates observed and provided supportive feedback about their responses, body language, and presentation skills. Opportunities like this provide students with the skills they will use to navigate the world post graduation with confidence. This is what educating the whole child looks like in practice.
Please help us congratulate Ms. Baker and Mr. Keto on their amazing accomplishments!
A thank you message from CPA's community member of the year
I’m honored to be chosen as the community member of the year. This could not have happened without you. For the past seven years, you have allowed me to do all I know what to do. That is to be a true champion for kids and families. Everyday I wake up I have goals of touching someone's heart, putting a smile on someone's face, and giving them the best time while they are with us. Thank you for allowing me to achieve my goals. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for acknowledging me. Just know as long as I’m at CPA you will continue to get 1000% and more out of me.
I dedicate this to my family. They have been my rock, they have been there for me after long nights and days. It’s amazing what I pour into our community. My family pours back into me. They keep me whole.
Thanks,
Kenan Moore
Middle School Dean of Students/ Athletic Director
